Neat. I just picked up an AS500 Plus the other day actually, so it's nice to see you have results for that one too.

Does the D-15 have the modification bracket ?, one reason i would not buy this is that you can only use their fans.

I'm not a fan of towers, either, although my Dark Rock 4 looks awesome (for a tower at least). :)

I don't mind the borg cube design of the Assassin 4, but I think it needs a system to be designed around it to look cool, with no gamery bling, and only AMD reference or Nvidia FE cards.

CPU air cooler manufacturers have been killing it these past couple of years. This one basically matches most 280mm AIOs without the clutter or the fear of leakage.

Makes one wonder what kind of a beast the new NH-D15 will be!

Yeah I guess it would be nice in a minimalist/dark themed build, from Be Quiet! I like their slim versions. 'had one in my previous AM 4 PC'
Lately I've been looking at some beefier yet still low profile/downdraft coolers from ID cooling that would be enough for the CPUs I'm interested in I just don't feel like buying a new cooler simply for aesthetic reasons when my current one works perfectly well.

I was under the impression that these new Deepcool air coolers were suppose to have a digital temp display?

Saw something like that in a YT video awhile back at some random hardware show.

Edit: This maybe available on the new Deepcool AK series and not the the Assassin IV

The new updated AK line will have those, the Assassin line is entirely different.

Thanks for the review!
I'm using the Assassin III (got it for measly $60) with my 5800X3D and can only speak highly of it. It's good to see that DeepCool continue to offer air coolers that can easily rival most AIOs.

Correct.

However the Assassin line is Deepcools flagship air cooler AFAIK its a bit disappointing that it does not get the temp display and the AK series does.

I'm shocked at how there was not a single CPU cooler review for Thermalright since 2017 for reference comparison.

Thanks for this! I've been waiting for the NDA to lift on the Assassin IV for such a long time. It honestly looks and performs wonderful, I wonder how it would perform with a 13900KS? I hope it's available soon!

So it's more or less on par with the D-15.
Features/aesthetics aside, that isn't all too impressive considering Thermalright is doing the same for sub $40.

Looks a great deal like the Threadripper ID-Cooling heatsink with a sleek aesthetic looking shroud around it. The shroud on top of looking great should add a bit of a wind tunnel effect though so not really a negative.

Nice review. Would it be possible to add in VRM temps in the future……just to highlight airflow or lack of in the area from the cooler?

And still no Thermalright Frost Commander 140 review. That costs HALF what this does. If it's even close in performance, which it almost certainly is, don't you think your readers would want to know what? If TR won't send a sample, buy one. You really going to try and tell me TPU can't afford $50?

Agreed. I'll literally send @crazyeyesreaper mine if he needs :D Though @freeagent will probably beat me to it, he has multiple FC140s.

The price points of the PA120, PS120, FC140 and FS140 now are so mind-boggling that quite frankly no other brand has even gotten on my radar for price/performance in the past year. Some for aesthetics sure (Deepcool), but the $30 PA120 and $50 FC140 ($CAD!!) are just undeniable. Keep the fans or swap the fans, doesn't matter, get the most expensive fans possible and it still comes in under the D15/U12A in price and whups them upside the head.

A D15 with Chromax covers is still a real head-turner, but that's even more $$ for a dated design with dated fans, and Deepcool is steadily getting there in the looks department. I've only seen 1 example in pictures so far of a A12x25 swapped AK620, but aftermarket fans on the Deepcool shrouded design doesn't look half bad at all, especially against a white or black/silver variant.
