AirConsole and BMW Showcase their In-Car Gaming Experience at Gamescom

Following last October's partnership announcement with BMW Group, AirConsole will now be showcasing their casual gaming platform in a vehicle. AirConsole and the BMW Group have announced a joint appearance for the forthcoming Gamescom Event in Cologne, set for August 23-27.

Both companies invite participants to the AirConsole booth where the in-car gaming system can be experienced firsthand inside the new BMW i5. Attendees have the unique opportunity to sit in the i5 and test out the games, engaging in an innovative multiplayer gaming environment. "10 months after expressing our ambitions to become a standard for casual gaming in the automotive world, the AirConsole team is extremely proud to showcase our new in-car gaming product with the BMW Group." remarked Anthony Cliquot, CEO of AirConsole. "With the BMW Group we are looking forward to taking you for an in-car experience you won't forget."

I'm not a grumpy one, but do we need a console in the main screen of the car ?
At least, in the back seat for the kids, it's ok, even if they've already got a Switch or a phone ...
I know the Wow factor is important when you buy a car ...
Always more screens ... i don't get it, you're supposed to drive, not watching screens

I know that most touchscreen buttons are disabled (unresponsive) when my car is in drive on my 2016 CX5 and same happens in the wife's 2017, even if I'm at a standstill at a stop light/sign. If my car is not actually in PARK, most touch screen response is disabled and even a handful of options for the menu (except radio features) are disabled using the buttons/knobs for the console. Hopefully they have it disabled when the car is in drive and it's only functional when the car is parked. No one needs to be playing any kind of video/game/show on the main screen that can distract the driver - people are dumb enough already when it comes to not paying attention in their vehicles and causing issues.....

Much like a guy driving a straight truck last week in the metro area near me, doing 60-70mph he didn't even break before ploughing into the back of a lady's car that had stopped for traffic on HWY 169 and smashing it to hell and killing her. No official report on why the guy wasn't paying attention that I've heard, just that this lady leaves behind a 12 year old kid. Sad.

These people don't need more ways to kill others or themselves. So here's hoping proper safety features are in place to prevent more stupidity.

I agree, gaming in the car should be restricted to the back seat until self-driving cars are REALLY self-driving cars. It will happen, but it's going to take some time.

Then again, if we put them in the back seat, people with early self-driving will break the rules and jump in the back seat to play. No gaming built into cars, buy Steam Deck or a Switch for the kids. You know what, better yet, let them sit there and learn patience like I did as a kid. Kids these days expect to be entertained every minute of the day. It's the way we raised them. I know I'm at fault with my kid. It was much easier to give him something to do and shut him up.
