It looks awesome! Let's hope it will be awesome, too. :)

Is it gonna be on Steam? I can't find a listing for it.

Wasn't this supposed to be using ray tracing in all of it's lighting? There were some news that it would require DXR to run.

Avatar is a Disney property. As such I expect that this will have to have a certain amount of quality. Even though they are not the best of the examples the current crop of Disney/Marvel Games have been pretty good. Guardians is a nice ride and Midnight Sun looks like a nice Xcom clone. This should be like HZD or Outriders but those are Japanese Games. Division was not what it was promised but still good and Black Flag may be the most Arcade Ubisoft Game so they have potential. I know I will be looking for this on Green Man Gaming.

If only there was a way to reduce the intensity of features that will decrease your performance... Preferably in a settings menu somewhere under Graphics... Oh well. I guess you're out of luck.

Indeed, kind of mind boggling the would force ray tracing on everyone.

I have 7900XTX but was hoping that it will finally be a game made from ground up with RT in mind and optimized for it, rather than throwing in some RT effects. Metro Enhanced edition is one of the best looking games out there and it was running on consoles. Well guess they changed their mind.

Not necessarily. It is an AMD-sponsored game, after all. ;)

"Avatar: The Game" was a superb game released in 2009 which was the first able to run on a 3D monitor. The game was extremely good both graphics wise also on gameplay/story.
I really hope that Frontiers of Pandora will at least reach its potential.

A graphical effect versus a handmade effort to recreate a claustrophobic environment.

I don't disagree about it but can you see what you're saying here. Among many I keep reading this misguided idea that somehow 'if you make it RT' it will be a better thing. I would dare say there isn't a single game that is less of a game without RT. After a half hour you've forgotten whether its on or off.

From the ground up with RT in mind sounds to me like a great recipe to blow millions on graphical development and then forget about making an actual game of it. Reality: we could already make games with dynamic, interactive lighting for decades and yet not a single true game concept is actually based on it. It just incorporates elements to add to other game concepts, like Stealth games that use shadow to hide in.

Nowhere has lighting quality ever been considered as anything more than just graphics. At the lowest quality its light on or off in perhaps a few gradients on any graphics card. At higher quality it gets brute forced and you need a 1500 dollar card to run the same scene. Yay?

Nice trailer about graphics qualities. But remember, games are like dating a girl - graphics interests you for the first 10 minues. Gameplay is what is important!

The point was it'll be a setting like everything else. Your 7900xt will be just fine. It would be absolutely insane for them to make a game this big unplayable on anything less than a RTX4070.

"According to a roughly translated statement issued to GameStar by technical director Nikolay Stefanov earlier today, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora “will only appear with ray tracing” but Ubisoft has been working to ensure that “the quality and performance will be scalable.”
