Im not sure at all. Camera designs usually take years. I'd be surprised if we see Sony (on CFX-A), Canon ( be it EOS R1 or whatever) or Nikon (Z9 replacement? cya in 2026) will have gen4 supporting chipset before the calendar shows 2025

I'm putting a fair reminder camera USB Type-C standards are still often 10Gbps and often only just 5Gbps on brand new models. This market moves very slow with standards

These camera makers are part of CFA and they would have known about developments of these standard before hand and would have contributed to the development as well. Nikon Z9 was released in 2021 and July 2024 is around 2.5 years and given both Nikon and Canon have had their release cycles(for flagship sports cameras) synced with Summer Olympics wont be surprised if Nikon were to make an development announcement for Z9 replacement with professionals getting prototypes to test on sidelines of Olympics.

USB-C is a mess, entry level cameras support 2.0 speeds while some prosumer models are still stuck at 5Gbps while 10Gbps is quite rare.

Camera makers are notoriously bad at supporting latest standards. The SoC is often locked down more than a year before release, so even Canon R1 would miss out if it is actually a 2024 release.
