Today we examine the new TOPPING D70 Pro SABRE, which uses the flagship ES9030PRO DAC, and the A70 Pro headphone amplifier that has enough power to drive even the most demanding of headphones. The two also get a new color display with useful features, extensive I/O, and plenty of other quality-of-life improvements.

Thank you for the review.

Apologize for my ignorance, but I'm curious: what kind of headset/IEM would benefit from these? Is there a price point or a features set to consider using a dedicated DAC or AMP instead of integrated audio?

If you don't hear any noise from the headphones/headset when using integrated audio and everything sounds clear, then you are fine. A DAC helps isolate the audio to outside the PC which is quite a noisy environment. The amplifier is mostly to make sure the headphones get enough power to be loud at your typical listening volumes without clipping or again having noise/distortion in the signal. This particular set is best used with more demanding headphones, especially the amplifier.

This is anecdotal evidence but I've had 2 topping amps fail in a row. Both with similar issues. L70 has a severe channel imbalance when volume is turned up beyond a certain point, about -32dB. A70 has a severe channel imbalance at all volumes.
