The Corsair HS80 MAX is a spiritual successor to the HS80 RGB Wireless. This $180 wireless gaming headset adds Bluetooth connectivity and Sonarworks SoundID Personalization technology, along with several other welcome changes.

I have the Non MAX version and its been great.

The same reduction in microphone quality was also noticed in other reviews. And the battery life claims need to be tested.

I generally use mine with RGB off and gets very decent battery life.

I also replaced the stock headphone cups after they started coming off with aftermarket and its even better.

My 2 problems with my HS80 is that the mic mechanism sucks, and battery life is atrocious. If the MAX version is able to triple the battery life, sure, sounds decent.
I do not consider effectively 9-11 hours of battery life good, whatsoever (RGB off)

Only SBC Codec? That's a hard pass for me. I actively look for headphones that either support AptX or better yet, AAC support.

About the specific battery percentage, during my tests, I found that it is possible to know it by connecting the headphones via Bluetooth to a phone. Phone displays the exact remaining battery percentage on the audio headset

How is AAC better than AptX apart from seemingly being free or at least not requiring Qualcomm chips?

I get more than 9-11 hours with it off.

Don't understand why anybody buys anything other than the Audeze Maxwell in this product segment unless going for some super cheap $50 one or something

Well the Audeze Maxwell is $300, that almost double the cost of this one. I'm looking for a headset and I've gotta say forking out $300 feels steep. I also have to buy a GC eventually, fork out another $1000. Getting sick of feeling like a milking cow. Talking about the Audeze Maxwell, on their website you can only select the Xbox or the Playstation version in the dropdown list. Very confusing for someone looking for a PC version.

For one, Windows 11 supports AAC natively and then there’s the fact that my iPhone also supports AAC. Meanwhile, if you want AptX on Windows, you need to buy and download a third-party Bluetooth codec.

Right, practical, not technological advantages. I buy that.

Both versions of maxwell work on pc either on bluetooth or a dongle thats in the box. Xbox version has dolby atmos thats the only difference between ps/xbox versions.
