I actually tried using this browser a few weeks ago. I uninstalled it. Its garbage. Whenever I try to load up any page, it would just stutter and the browser would lock up for a few seconds. Hard pass.

Opera has been Chromium based for a decade now. Opera (the company) has had some controversies (Look up "Opera loan scandal" and "Opera GX controversy" as starting points) in the past few years, so it's understandable why some people might not want to use their products.

Every single web browser on this planet has reasons for not using it. I have been surfing the WWW since 1993 (on NCSA Mosaic on UNIX systems) and I have pretty much seen it all.

I stopped using Opera when majority ownership moved to a certain place. I still use a Chromium based browser on occasion.

There is *NO* perfect web browser. Like I alluded to, they are all poison to one extent or another.

I use Safari. I use a non-Google Chrome Chromium based browser. I use Firefox. I even used iCab for a while.

One of the horrible things I do is surf the Internet mostly in incognito mode and blow away all of my cookies when I close the application. About 90% of my time reading TPU is done not logged in. I unapologetically block ads purely for security reasons (a completely unassailable stance).

Again, crucifying MSI for putting out a branded browser demonstrates a hilariously detached lack of understanding of the dynamics that drive web browser development and adoption.

Unfortunately Chrome/Chromium and its rehashes are no better than IE at its peak dominance. Other than Firefox(for desktops) everything else these days its basically a reskined Chrome so basically its a duopoly for browser market with Firefox barely having 7% of market share with rest going to Google. If anything its worse than monopoly of IE and MS back in early days of internet. On other side of things Opera has acted as loan shark and few other shady things making this MSI-Opera collab a match made in heaven.

There's reasons and there's REASONS. You can discuss philosophy while comparing Edge or Chrome, not when comparing a company involved in scams and data brokering, it's a different league all together.

MSI launching a branded version is a joke and means they don't even have good self preservation instincts for their own brand, accepting a crap deal that won't make more than a few bucks

I've been using GX for a few months now and it's perfectly functional for me. Never had a browsing issue with it and I find the integration of twitch/social media/whatsapp convenient too.

Biggest reason I gave it a run is the 'gamer feature' of being able to limit ram and cpu usage while gaming so it doesn't cripple your pc if you're a tab junkie.

I can't remember why I stopped using chrome but I do miss the simplicity of google account integration on it.

Not sure I'd bother with and MSI specific version for any reason (especially not having anything msi in my current setup) but good for them.
