AMD unveiled its Golden Rabbit Edition (GRE) Radeon RX 7900 GPU last summer—this Navi 31 XL-based card was first launched in China, with only a handful of customized options and a reference model (produced by XFX) available at the starting line. It later emerged that Team Red's special SKU (celebrating the Year of the Rabbit) would be heading West; by Autumn-time, system integrators in Europe started to sell full PC systems outfitted with Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics cards. By late 2023, a small smattering of board partner versions hit the European market in proper retail form—you no longer had to shell out €1500+ for a pre-built system in order to gain access to an exclusive model. Team Red's almost parallel launch of its Radeon RX 7800 XT GPU has overshadowed the slightly more powerful RDNA 3 model's limited release.

VideoCardz has received tips about price cuts affecting certain Radeon RX 7900 GRE models, and a new retail entry for an ASRock custom design. AMD has started to adjust its pricing at the higher mid-tier and flagship GPU level, in reaction to NVIDIA rolling out GeForce RTX 40 SUPER cards this month. This initiative has affected the Radeon RX 7900 GRE as well, despite its very restricted availability in Western markets. The article points to an example of the reference design with its price falling by ~€60 (over a two month period)—Italy's PSK Mega Store's offer currently sits at €542.66. The lowest price in Spanish and German markets appears to be €579—CoolMod Espagna has Sapphire's Pulse Radeon RX 7900 GRE Gaming OC 16 GB card listed at €579.95; it also qualifies for the AVATAR: Frontiers of Pandora promotion. Mindfactory DE lists a mysterious ASRock Radeon RX 7900 GRE Challenger 16 GB OC Edition model (SKU 90-GA52ZZ-00UANF), ready to purchase and ship out immediately at €579. Photos of this twin-fan custom model can be viewed at Skinflint UK.

My post had results from skroutz.gr a site for searching prices in stores.
Yours is from bestprice.gr, the second most used site of the same type in Greece. Because it is not as much used as Skroutz, it probably offers better deals to shops to get them included in it's searches, meaning there might be some small shops in it's lists that aren't in Skroutz. Now those two low prices at Bestprice results are from a shop in county with up to a month waiting time. So no guarantee someone will get those cards in the end, or what kind of warranty the customer gets.
Bestprice Greece
Skroutz Greece

Depending on how easy is to find GRE.

AMD should stop these GRE models, sound stupid with Golden Rabbit Edition, do some proper worldwide releases instead and fill the entire product stack

You mean regular 7800. The card that the 7800XT actually should be compared to is the 6800. In fact the 7900GRE could even be the comparison for the 6950XT. People like to compare the 7900Xt to the 6800XT but there is nothing a 6800XT can do that a 7900XT does much faster.

The 7900 GRE is an atypical launch, should have been asia only but don't really make sense unless price comes down closer to 7800 XT

I expect AMD to sell very few 7900 GRE

Given the low performance, I would also not buy this card.

In a certain game, it is on par with RX 6800.

Of course it's the retail pricing that's of most importance to you, so let's take a look at the typical Newegg pricing for these GPUs. Here the 7900 GRE like most current generation GPUs makes little to no sense.

Overall, the Radeon RX 7900 GRE is an unusual product. We wouldn't label it as bad, but you might be better off avoiding it, given that discounted 7900 XT's offer greater value. Alternatively, the Radeon 6800 XT provides nearly the same performance level at a considerably lower price.

It's not much. Just noticeable.

"7900 GRE is the real 7800 XT" is a statement and a half (=utter bollocks). This is just a weird GPU with a highly potent core and even more so highly castrated VRAM bandwidth. Why not 20 Gbps? Why not 22? This GPU made negative sense at 650 USD and it still makes very limited sense now since 4070 Super/6950 XT is roughly the same price and faster (of course you can OC that GRE to the moon and call that a moot point but that doesn't matter as much).

At 500+ USD/EUR, the only AMD GPUs still being reasonable are 7900 XT and XTX.

This "gre" doesn't qualify even for a real Radeon RX 7700 XT.

Because it was intended to send a bad product to the fellow Chinese customers.
I would call it extremely unfair because the Chinese companies have always strived to give all customers the highest possible quality, while in return they get this kind of turds.

For $500 MSRP, it would be a good value product. For $650 (initial MSRP), it's just pure vomit. No one sensible cares what name this GPU has, what matters is how much you pay and how much you get for that $$$.

Well, they use the higher names intentionally in order to justify the higher price tag. Imagine if it was called an RX 7600 XT, it would cost less than 350.

It's not much. Just noticeable.
That depends on what the rest of your hardware is. If you have a 4K 144hz monitor a 7900XT is more than just a noticeable difference but QOL changing. Like if you went from Vega to a 6800XT. Then you have to have a CPU that can drive that GPU. As much as the 5800X3D is loved it is 3-5 GB/s slower than the 7900X3D in driving the VRAM buffer on the 7900XT. That combined with Freesync and AMD software makes Gaming on AM5 absolutely joyful. The latest Game I play is AMS2 and getting 350 FPS in 4K is serious enjoyment in translation. Of course the narrative will tell you that PCIe 5.0 is not different in real world but I will tell you that with PCIe 5.0 my system boots in less than 20 seconds. Programs feel like they load before the thought has passed from my brain to my fingers. The monitor is the key though to really enjoy your AMD card. I have mini led and love it with VA native dark ability. That is why if the price of the 7900XT even gets to $799 Canadian it will sell like carzy. It is overall about 7% slower than a 7900XTX and that I promise you, you cannot feel. I had a 7900XTX. You get about 200mhz more on OC vs a 7900XT and that can't be felt either.

The 7900GRE is the spec of the 6800XT in terms of bus width but is a chiplet based design but the 6800XT is a monolithic die. The 7800XT only has 4 chiplets but is faster than the 6800XT. The 7900GRE is also a 7800XT in VRAM buffer. In truth the only thing that makes the cards similar is bus width. So the 7900GRE is the frankenstein that we think is. A 7900 series GPU with a 7800 series Vram buffer.

It depends on the particular use case.
In CS 2 the RX 6800 XT is considerably faster.
This game is the highlight of the recent times and should be set as the benchmark to compare given GPUs.

RX 6800, RX 6800 XT, RX 7800 XT and RX 7900 GRE are all in the same more or less performance tier.
You grab the cheapest of them.

RX 6800 is around 415 euros, RX 6800 XT is around 540 euros, RX 7800 XT is also around 520 euros, while 7900 GRE is 620 euros.

Vega is about the same speed as RX 6600 non-XT if we're talking Vega 64. Compared to RX 6800 XT, RX 6600 non-XT is more than 2 times slower at 1440p and about 3 times slower at 2160p. However, 7900 XT only wins against its predecessor, 6800 XT, by 60% in the most RDNA3 favouring scenarios, averaging at around +35%. Going from 60 to 144 FPS is huge. Going from 105 to 144 FPS is just nice. But hardly worth the 700 dollar investment. If I owned a 6800 XT I'd skip RDNA3 entirely and upgrade to 4090 or anything not yet existing.

LMAO RDNA3 features= Gaming, and whatever else I do with my PC. Your equation is a little off. I don't know if a 6800XT can do 100 FPS consistent in all Games but I can tell you that a 7900XT does. Like I said on my 144hz panel it is great. Now 60% is not good enough. Then you want me to risk a divorce for buying something that costs as much as all of my parts.

It depends on the resolution and settings.
Let's check the reviews, information is there:

2K highest: 6800 XT - 106.8 FPS; 7900 XT - 139.9 FPS
4K highest: 6800 XT - 60.7 FPS; 7900 XT - 81 FPS

LMAO RDNA3 features= Gaming, and whatever else I do with my PC. Your equation is a little off. I don't know if a 6800XT can do 100 FPS consistent in all Games but I can tell you that a 7900XT does. Like I said on my 144hz panel it is great. Now 60% is not good enough. Then you want me to risk a divorce for buying something that costs as much as all of my parts.
What I meant to say is 7900 XT is just about 135% of 6800 XT. 6800 XT is more than 200% of Vega 64. I have no questions for people who upgraded from Vega to 6800 XT. Having 2 to 4 times more FPS is huge.

However, those who upgraded from 6800 XT to 7900 XT seem to be in a major hurry because +35% isn't much. 4090 and more powerful GPUs seem to be a more reasonable upgrade.

Don't think I'm saying 6800 XT is superior to 7900 XT. It's of course not. Spending 700+ USD on an upgrade for only getting <50% uplift AND ALSO NOT GETTING THE BEST GPU IN THE WORLD is cost inefficient.

They can sell the old card, I see that the used cards market is even more insane, the scalpers ask the full price of a brand new card for their old used with little left warranties...

Waiting, negotiating, allowing testing, shipping etc makes net worth thinner. You could've spent this time working.
