Add two super fast NVMe SSDs to your Raspberry Pi 5. Ideal if you need redundancy or just a load more storage on your RPi. NVMe Base Duo is a PCIe Gen 2 extension board for Raspberry Pi 5. Simply populate it with one or two M-key NVMe SSDs (2230 to 2280 sizes supported) and mount it under (or over) your Pi for a compact and fast storage solution. It even comes with rubber feet!

It's the perfect solution for turning your Raspberry Pi 5 into a file server, media center, reverse proxy, etc.—really any task that benefits from large amounts of fast storage, redundancy, or just to make use of a couple of spare disk—especially with random high operations per second (IOPS) workloads. In short, it's a game changer! NVMe Base Duo is now available for pre-order with the first batch of units shipping in mid-April. For a lot more detail about NVMe Base Duo and to reserve your unit click here.

The kit includes:
  • NVMe Base Duo PCB with two M.2 slots (M-Key)
  • 'PCIe Flex' Flat Flex Cable
  • 4x rubber feet!
  • 4x M2 bolt and 2x 5 mm standoffs for SSD mounting
  • 4x 12 mm M2.5 standoffs for base mounting
  • 8x short M2.5 bolts for base mounting
  • 4x 18 mm M2.5 bolts for 'pass-thru' mounting with a HAT

Is it really that hard to include these specs in press releases and marketing materials?
(Esp. on a device marketed at Maker-Tinkerers)

The FPC will be broken in few times when pulling out the SDCARD. Poor design. Somebody really asked for this?

Uses a lil ZIF FPC socket. I don't see how sdcard insertion-removal would interfere.
However, I agree w/ your point. W/o being in a full-enclosure, that FPC is definitely gonna get snagged and ripped out/apart.

Even in a case, it's likely to get damaged in maintenance, etc. (kinda like in phones and laptops, that have p*sspoor disassembly/assembly)

You see the bending point above the name PIPE. It will crack after few tries. This is the cheapest and worst FPC type.

Also I won't indulge myself into explaining what happens if you bend high frequency signal at certain angles. It needs to be straight. This has to be put on top not bottom with the FPC looking downwards with a short straight FPC, just like hats do. It is a design profanity. You may say it would have worse cooling... then put some holes it it ffs. As bonus it will also cool the NVMe.

maybe it's cheaper so they use that one and the annoying is some just make it tight as possible, they just don't leave some spaces
