The XMG PRO 16 Studio is receiving a significant upgrade as part of a model update. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX Studio-certified laptop, which includes graphics cards up to the GeForce RTX 4070, previously came with a conventional H-series laptop CPU. It now features an Intel Core i9-14900HX based on the design of desktop processors. Additionally, the laptop, which continues to be cooled by a massive vapor chamber in a 19.9 mm thin, predominantly aluminium chassis, is now lighter at only 2.3 kg. The 240 Hz IPS display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels is colour-calibrated and X-Rite certified. Furthermore, the otherwise identical chassis retains the extensive connectivity of the predecessor model.

XMG PRO 16 Studio with Core i9-14900HX and Vapor Chamber Cooling
By upgrading to Intel's Core i9-14900HX with 24 cores (8 performance and 16 efficiency cores) and 32 threads, the XMG PRO 16 Studio (M24) demonstrates a significant increase in CPU performance compared to the previous model with a Core i9-13900H. As a result, the new version now scores 28,271 points in a single multi-core run of Cinebench R23, compared to the previous 19,310 points (measured in the highest performance profile). On the graphics card side, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX Studio-certified laptop, aimed at both gamers and creatives, continues to be powered by an RTX 4070 or 4060, delivering graphics performance of up to 140 watts (115 watts plus 25 watts Dynamic Boost 2.0).

On the outside, the already familiar thin and compact chassis, measuring 359.5 x 273 x 19.9 mm and made predominantly from aluminium (display lid and bottom shell), continues to be used. However, the weight of the M24 model generation has been reduced from 2.56 kg to 2.3 kg. Despite this reduction, the interior still features a massive vapor chamber that fully covers all thermally relevant areas, such as the processor, graphics card, and voltage regulator modules on the mainboard. This ensures that the compact gaming workstation delivers plenty of performance with improved temperatures and quieter operation - the balanced "entertainment mode" performance profile is specially designed for this purpose.

Colour-Calibrated, X-Rite-Certified 16:10 Display with 1600p Resolution and 240 Hz
The 240 Hz IPS panel of the XMG PRO 16 Studio boasts a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, a brightness of 350 nits, and a 16:10 aspect ratio. For content creation, the X-Rite-certified display comes colour-calibrated from the factory and covers over 95% of the sRGB colour space. Additionally, the display connection can be toggled between the integrated graphics chip (iGPU) and the dedicated NVIDIA graphics card (dGPU) using a MUX switch, allowing for either energy-efficient operation or slightly enhanced gaming performance.

Faster DDR5-5600 RAM, Extensive Connectivity, and TPM 2.0
With the upgrade to a processor from the HX series, the XMG PRO 16 Studio now supports DDR5 RAM with a clock frequency of up to 5600 MHz, an improvement from the previous 5200 MHz. However, due to Intel's CPU architecture, this higher frequency is available only in configurations of up to 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) of memory. Configurations with a maximum of 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) still clock the RAM at 5200 MHz. Both M.2 slots feature thermal pads and support PCI Express 4.0 SSDs. The laptop's interior is easily accessible via a screw-fastened bottom shell, facilitating upgrades and maintenance.

The extensive connectivity remains identical to the previous model. This includes Thunderbolt 4 with Power Delivery and DisplayPort function (with a power-saving iGPU connection), two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, a microSD card reader, HDMI 2.1 and Mini DisplayPort 1.4 (each with a dGPU connection), Wi-Fi 6E, and a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port. Additionally, there are separate audio jacks for headphones (compatible with combo plug headsets) and a microphone. With a total of three graphics interfaces, the laptop can natively control up to three external monitors in addition to the integrated display.

The XMG PRO 16 Studio features a full-size keyboard with a dedicated numeric keypad, large arrow keys, and LED backlighting with 15 colour options. It also includes a Microsoft Precision-compliant 151 x 91 mm touchpad, which has been improved over the previous model with significantly enhanced gliding characteristics. For video meetings, a Windows Hello-compatible Full HD webcam with temporal noise reduction is available. Reflecting its semi-professional orientation, the laptop integrates a hardware-based TPM 2.0 module (dTPM) for managing cryptographic keys, such as those used for device authentication or SSD encryption via BitLocker.

Pricing and availability
The base configuration of the XMG PRO 16 Studio (M24) which can be freely configured on bestware.com, includes Intel's Core i9-14900HX, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, 16 (2x8) GB DDR5-5600 RAM, a 500 GB SSD and a colour-calibrated WQXGA IPS display with 240 Hz. The starting price, including 19% VAT, is €1,699. An upgrade to the faster GeForce RTX 4070 is available for €295. The laptop is available for pre-order with immediate effect and is expected to be in stock from the beginning of June.
