I wish they released a simplified version of Extreme that focused on system monitoring, basic information and the benchmarks on Steam with a fixed-price purchase. No need to include some of the fancier features on it... I'd be gifting it to people left and right... up and down too...

Extreme is a single purchase. In that purchase, you get a certain length of maintenance, which covers new versions. Once the maintenance period ends, the software you’re using doesn’t broke and stop working, you just don’t get access to the new updates.

He has a point. Extreme has many features that could be removed for a simpler, cheaper version. I suggested as much (plus questioning the prices of some other versions) a while back but the developer does not want to maintain another extra version. At least thats the public response. Make of it what you will. The topic is here: https://forums.aida64.com/topic/11974-aida64-pricing-needs-update/
The cheapest edition for home users is $60 annually. That's way too expensive for a monitoring software. Much more complex software (that is native 64bit and has dark mode) costs less. Also the fact the the cheapest edition is named Extreme. Should there not be a Basic edition for $20 and with a longer lasting license?
At least thay added dark mode since my question so that's progress.

If you buy once , everything works and you can make full use of it.
Not for Extreme. Im not about to pay $200 for the Engineer version either. Subscription based software like this is aids and should not exist and i refuse to pay a subscription on something I use once in a blue moon.

and that's why it's a terrible model, AIDA is primarily diagnostic software so it's in your best interests that it's up to date. I still think a "Gaming Edition" that focus on the things that people really really want AIDA64 for - CPU and GPU identification (with supported instruction sets/sub-extensions), storage health, sensor monitoring and the benchmarking suite. Trim the rest, ask $30 for it on Steam and put it on sale often just like UL does with 3DMark - worked well for them.

I use free now, used to pay for it but it's too much i think. I use hardware info now, it's cheaper.

Yup, that's what I meant by fixed-price purchase. One-time payment. Me too, btw. I'd buy a copy for me, one for my brother and one for each of my closest friends that's 100% sure
