Well, I don't update my BIOS since I'm not planning to upgrade anymore on Z690 platform.
For now I'm good with my i7 12700K.

Waiting for Arrow Lake.

Interested to see how intel 13/14th gen will fare with these new microcode.

I'm not in a hurry to fix my 13700KF, so I'm gonna wait another few months

Benchmark Scores They're pretty good, nothing crazy.
Can anyone test shadow of the benchmark or any other in game benches before and after? Ill post my results once they issue a bios for my board. Would be nice to know the changes.

Tested 3 games: SotR, Cyberpunk 2077 and Warhammer III, performance seem largely affected.

I feel like i dodged an immense bullet when i settled for the 12700KF instead of the 13600KF when i upgraded to my current rig nearly 2 years ago now.

I had the choice between both since they were priced equally in my region at the time and my reasoning behind going for the 12700KF was AVX-512 for emulation and certain applications (it was part of the early batch that still had it enabled).

I will be staying on this system for many years to come.

Nice, twin announcements from MSI (and everyone else alike).

MSI: We support new AMD processors!

MSI: We also support old Intel processors!

Is it optional or do i need to update for 0x129 microcode to have extended warranty (or any warranty at all) for my 14700kf? I have it for half year and so far no problems. I use it for games and render daily. But i have -0,125 offset since day one.

I feel the same way. I went 12600K instead of 13600K and don't regret it at all.

This PR is nonsensical.

The title is "MSI Releases BIOS update" but the PR itself says MSI "will release" with microcode 0129. As I write this, the current BIOS update for the Z790 Godlike is from 8/2 and contains microcode 0125, not 0129.

Note that all of these BIOS updates released prior to official Intel microcode contain beta Intel microcode, there is no reason to believe 0129 is final until Intel marks it final. But they are issuing PR as though it's final.

Be careful from BIOS update. A friend of mine did and his home mortgage was cancelled and his wife now is filling for divorce. Big mistake

Its not a requirement and I am not sure if Intel will even have a way to know if the bios was ever installed.

About as optional as common sense.
Undervolting has nothing to do with peak power draw and your CPU can still draw more watts than the Intel recommended specification of 253W.

1. But his house didn't burn down because the battery in his notebook didn't catch fire because it consumes less power after the update
2. Happens to many a man who spends hours every day tuning his PCs

Jay2cents tested the microcode on MSI, the interesting bits related to voltage, clocks and wattage are near the end, first bits are benchmarks.

1-2 core workloads look like are where they trimmed the voltage requests, but interestingly not by a huge amount.

Buildzoid tested this and it doesnt behave the same as the Gigabyte bios, it seems to only cap the VID after Windows is booted up, he gets 1.6v spikes prior to the OS finishing the boot.
