The Montech XR may be classified as an entry level chassis, but it manages to impress with small details that set it apart from its competition in the same space, while also having a lower price tag. The result is a case that punches well above its weight, making it interesting for a broad audience, not just the budget-minded ones.

Benchmark Scores I have wrestled bandwidths, Tussled with voltages, Handcuffed Overclocks, Thrown Gigahertz in Jail
- Double glass panels
- x3 "PWM" ARGB fans (x2 in reverse)
- x3 dust filters (top, bottom and side)
- USB-C + x2 3.0 USB ports
- Perforation/mesh on top and side of PSU shroud for air intake (fan mounts)
- Steel construction (no plastics)
- and more...

....its nothing new or creatively innovative but for just south of $64 its an absolute TREAT! Montechs killing it - taking ideas from premium case makers who charge a higher premium and bringing the goods to the budget crowd with style, quality and the bells and whistles. And I thought the Montech AIR 903 was a killer budget deal.

Thank for the review @Darksaber. This was exactly what i was thinking when juggling the pros/cons:

But, all of these are far from dealbreakers and the fact that we are nit-picking—and could continue regarding some cosmetic choices like the blue USB-A ports—is testament to how well-rounded the chassis really is.

Other than the bottom magnetic filter falling off, the only other thing i don't like is the in-yer-face visibly bold "MONTECH" branding on the front. It might have been OK if it was discreetly blended into the case. Not just the case branding but (not a valid point) for some reason i just dont like the name lol - reminds me of the worst day of the week "Monday".

Very average looking case again, same as all the other average fish tanks on the market, with the same mistakes, like side fans and the ability to install three fans on the PSU shroud that is pointless.
Side fans are a fad that needs to go away.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
The recent Corsair 3500X review is a real contrast to this.

The 3500X isn't a bad case, but it's both mediocre and overpriced - sadly a very common trend with Corsair this decade.

Montech have hit this one out of the park at $65 and honestly I'd still pick it over the 3500X even if that dropped in price to $65 too. Everything about this XR is just slightly better thought-out, more care and attention has gone into the design and usability, and the list of niggles that are the inevitable compromise of a low price are much easier to forgive when they're easy to correct yourself (changing screws for free, buying a stronger magnetic filter for $3 etc) if they annoy you enough. None of the issues with this case are unfixable, and none of them are expensive fixes.

Why? Fans are one of the cheapest ways to individualized your build, and if the fans are expensive, then you definitely want to show them off...what's the point of buying a $25+ or $30+fan just to hide it?

This case is possibly a Soeyi V920/30 based design, as a lot of brands now are either buying case design and manufacturing/modification from them (Like XPG, darkflash, etc.) or straight up relabeling them like what local brands do in our country.

I need this case to be stocked in Canada ASAP. Front I/O, it looks brilliant, clean, well built for the price... But the least it could be here is $120USD which is unacceptable.

Just bought and built an all-white PC with my kid in this case (thanks Scorptec Tingalpa).

Very easy to move around even after the motherboard is installed with all the components on it. The cable routing is very sensibly placed and accessible. Had to undo the messy fan connector/RGB cable job to get the routing done right, but was easy to reroute and clean up afterwards.

There is a ridiculous amount of room in the PSU/HDD cage for cables. You can plug every single cable into your PSU and hide them all in there with room for a game of Frisbee. We used a single high capacity M.2 drive so the drive cage wasn't utilised. Very clean and no, I am not concerned about the PSU dust filter falling off. The magnet seems well strong enough.

We installed an XFX Quicksilver 7800XT and there was plenty of room for it (34cm vs. the 42cm allowance in the case spec). Kid likes the face-on design of the fans and in an all-glass front they could not go any other way. It also maximises the visibility of the colour if you're into that kind of thing. 3 ARGB fans included. Great value and good clean lines for a larger build.
