The Wooting 80HE is a highly anticipated keyboard with over 23,000 pre-orders so far. It uses updated Hall effect switches in a new design and is available as either modular or pre-built. Buyers can choose from different colors, materials, and layouts. The keyboard offers features like analog control, per-key actuation customization, and even some "game-breaking" cheats.

I have always wanted one of these keyboards, just a bit too pricey for me. I'd rather have less bells and whistles and a cheaper price just for the analog feature and software for the games they support.

I have the 60he and I must say, it's hard using a normal keyboard. I have several mechanical keyboards and the feel and sound of my 60he is light years ahead of them all. I'm contemplating on picking up the 80he for my secondary pc.

It looks so good, but I wont go under 85%. Does anyone know if the fullsize one uses the same keys? They dont specify rev 2, though it does appear the fullsize has been revised as a whole; though if anyone knows to what extent, id be interested.

Definitely pricey for what you get. For just a few $ more you can get a Keychron Q1 HE, Q3 HE or Q5 HE with a full aluminum body, gasket mounts, lots of dampening, etc..

You are not going to be disappointed. I got the white zinc 80he and it is sooo nice. It ruined all mechanical keyboards for me.

Assuming you won't get kicked off the game by anti-cheat software, please note that SOCD will not make you a better gamer. It's a shortcut, and there's nothing wrong in using it as long as you know the associated cons and do it for your own enjoyment. I don't see SOCD any more controversial as, say, macros in that the use case matters more here. Use it for productivity or with single-player games with low stakes and have fun.

I bolded and underlined this part of the conclusion because I agree with it so much. Not to sound like a grumpy old broad but, nowdays it feels to me as if gamers (and people in general) have become so lazy, and technology so prevalent, that there's no longer any reason for them to actually put the work into becoming better at their game(s) of choice because there's all this crap out there to give them a "competitive edge". But as this point in the review states, none of this stuff - let's call them "shortcuts" - will actually make you a "better" gamer, and your average Fortnite, Valorant, etc. player looking for an "ez" way to win needs to fucking realize that and actually put the damn time into improving, rather than think the technology will do it for them.

This is true. What these hardware enhancements do is basically raise the skill ceiling if one has already hit the limitation of the hardware. Basically, if you're already maxing out your skill with your current hardware, upgrading may remove that limitation to an extent (e.g. 60 Hz display to 144 Hz, due to lower input lag and better visual acuity).

If you haven't increased your skill with what you have now, then new equipment/features won't do anything for you.

You can realize this if you can get CS2 to trigger the game to kick you without having SOCD cleaning/Snappy Tappy enabled when you counter-strafe, then you may have mastered movement. (I'm proud of this btw lol)

My travel keyboard (razer 60%) randomly acts like the poll rate is not 1000hz and I get some crazy overshoots in movement that I do not get on my home keyboard.
I unplug it and plug it back in and all is good...
Same with high latency monitor... can cost you in close encounters.
I definitely increased my win rate going from 60hz to 240hz... I was winning plenty at 60hz, but 240hz suddenly I was hemmy and people were just holding still as I came around corners.

hardware doesn't make you better, but it can inhibit you from performing at your skill level, totally agree.

I am definitely intrigued by the instantaneous key reset, I do not like the override of more pressed down key, too close to macros.
I also am fairly attached to my blue clickies and do not know if I would fall in love with these new switches or abhor the linear nature.

I ordered mine 2 weeks ago ... i already have the Wooting 60HE but i'm in that moment that i want the F keys back and a little more structure into the layout of the keyboard.
I ended up "just" spending 194 Euros ( inc. shipping ) on the 80HE, because i only ordered the module and the PCR case ( did not like the zinc/alum case, so i will wait for 3rd parties ).
I'll just re-use keycaps and the RAW switches i have here :)

But at the end of the day, i've experimented several keyboards and in terms of HE, Wooting is not cheap but it's one of those keyboards that you buy and you really don't think about getting/experimenting anything else, because from there you can only go down in terms of QA, performance and so on ( of course you have very high performance keyboards that can match wooting, but the overall service of customer support, the community, 3rd party upgrades that you might have available... and just knowing you have a Wooting, just makes you set and forget ).

And tbh, i was in that ballpark where i bought a Nuphy Field75 HE and said "yeah, this will be enough and its cheaper" ... but every single time i saw the Wooting i was like "argh, who am i trying to fool".

Well my kid will get my Nuphy when the Wooting pops up to my door that's for sure :D

V1 vs V2 switch difference comes down to sound upgrades for wackos that film and lube their switches. I own Two HE and can't complain about sound issues, although I do miss the clicks of my MK Typist sometimes.
My only gripe with Two HE is the floating case design, but thanks to that I can also clean the keeb more easily.

I have a 65% DURGOD keyboard that I've been using for many years and is just now stopped giving output randomly, until I unplug and plug back in. This Wooting keyboard has been my #1 catching my eye. I miss the F keys. Concerning to see "wobbling" for the keys and the only 2 pins hot swappable keys. But would be nice to use something higher the 1000Hz polling rate, I guess, I'd have to test out.

I got mine due to being a lefty, and when you need to move keys around for one or more reason re-programable keyboard ( more so every key ) are more expensive.

Then the Two HE offered other options with really nice software to use, and not sure if VSG covered it in his video but if you can copy paste the colors from one key to another by right clicking then left clicking the key you want to change.

V2 is suppose to be less wobbly and seeing how I have no issues with V1's amount of wobble I don't think this is a major issue. But again, this might come down to individual user preferences.

Another plus is that the other keyboard get the Rappy Snappy and Snappy Tappy unlike most other company's.

Not exactly a plus when using it is a bannable offense in games you probably want it for.

You don't get banned from any game at the moment. I've only been kicked out 7 times from CS2 only. And three of those are with Snappy Tappy (SOCD) turned off (I don't use Rappy Snappy in CS2 as it gets in the way of air strafing) already.

Overwatch 2, no issues. Apex Legends, no issues. In Valorant, Snappy Tappy is not useful, but no issues.

Wooting has been an incredible company for me. They continue to support the Wooting One and add features, which makes me feel like I placed my bet on the right horse. However, I'm not a fan of how they seem to be riding the hype wave with high margins, which opens up opportunities for other manufacturers, especially from China.

I’m still satisfied with my old Wooting One, and if I ever need to buy a new keyboard, I would love to stick with Wooting. That said, these prices don’t sit well with me—I prefer to pay for value, not hype or exclusivity.

Hot take - and I'm saying this owning a heavily modified 60HE after backing wooting years ago.

The "you pay for the software" speech we always hear is hot garbage to justify the inflated price. Is it the best?...sure, but I have used it to adjust settings 3 maybe 4 times in the multiple years I have owned it. Once things are dialed in, your not tinkering with it unless you are a noob. As a matter of fact the "less" you tinker the better because top gaming pros need to adapt to specific settings.

First, there was James Donkey, which still makes me laugh everytime. But now there's a "company" called Drunkdeer? :wtf::twitch:

Good lawd. :roll::roll:

(I'm not a hardcore keyboard enthusiast with money to burn, so that's why I asked. I only know about James Donkey from TPU reviews.)

Nice review! I'm a 60HE (ARM based) user and since day 1 also a 80HE (Zinc alloy founder's edition) user and at first the switch from 60 to 80 was a bit hard, cause the extra row of keys but now I'm used to it and I've fully switched to 80 and the 60 is to the backup systems.
