MIRPH Design is a one-man operation based out of Germany which aims to take on the more established headphone brands with the MIRPH-1, an open-back dynamic driver set using Peerless 50 mm drivers in a way no one has seen before. It has a uniquely appealing warm and smooth sound which still manages to be extremely wide sounding.

Is it just me, or did the 500-1000 dollar price point became sort of a no mans land for headphones? It isn’t the ridiculous TOTL where anything goes and price is immaterial yet, but it also isn’t the more “what do I get for my money” mid-fi (I hate the term) space where your 6X0s, 900X Pros, FT3s, various Sivgas, Paras and Sundaras reside. Like, it gets really tough to justify considering the frequent price cuts mentioned in the review. Hell, right NOW the Sundara is at 250 bucks (!) on the HiFimans store. 250. For what is arguably one of the overall best headphones outside of “fuck you money” space. I don’t care what you say, that’s a bargain. And here we have a cool pair of cans, no doubt, but it’s still an unproven one-man outfit and at this price… I don’t know, guess I just don’t feel it?

To pour more salt - the HE400se is 100. For the Stealth version. The non-Stealth is 60. 60. Dollars. This is insanity, a decade ago a decent planar would set you back what, 500 at least?

What's the best rated headphone you have reviewed in the 1-2k price range? Just in your own personal opinion of bang for buck sound quality.

Probably Hifiman HE1000 Stealth, although apparently people have been really liking the new Arya Unveiled. I don't have a lot of headphones in this price range though, so keep that in mind.

DCA E3s are in that range, aren’t they? From my short stint with them and people opinions I would say it is another one that’s very highly rated, provided one vibes with the closed-backs.

Bang for buck and kilobuck+ cans are an incompatible concept. The value drops off a cliff like Kratos after a certain point and that point is lowering every year seemingly.

Exactly $2000.

Anyway, let's keep the conversation related to the MIRPH-1 here :)

I'm trying to convince my friend to cancel his order for the HE1000SE and get the new HE1000 Unveiled preorder instead.

I think I am going to buy the Arya Unveiled, pre-order for $1400 ships november 30th. i have always wanted high end. i think its time to treat myself, as long as i take care of it, it should last me a life time. i just hope my asgard 2 on high gain is enough to do it justice.
