The Alta D1 may be part of the same high-end family of SilverStone cases, but it could not be any more different than the F1 or F2. Taking its DNA from servers, the SilverStone Alta D1 is built like a tank, offering modularity to cater to AI applications, rendering scenarios or anything you can think of.

So big but only 4 drives is kinda useless if you really wanna use it as a server unless you use 10+ tb drives. Looks great for all the options.

This is an extremely based case. The people who need it know that they need it. Completely useless for an average home build though, except as a flex.

That is a nice looking case. I'd love to have one but not at that price. I actually just bought an Enthoo Pro2 Server case to put a workstation in which is probably a fraction of the quality but it also was a fraction of the price.

It has the side panel my Corsair D5000 wishes it had. :( SilverStone continues to make compelling cases, but expensive.

Thanks for the review and as usual Silverstone doing unique things for niche use cases.
This, this, this. Now that every other company copies the Lian Li O11, after they are done copying the Fractal Design Define, it's refreshing to see SilverStone to continue with their style and unique ideas.

Makes me miss Caselabs even more.

Silverstone went beast mode with their workstation case offerings, even pure rackmount ones.

On a personal level, this is almost too much for me, hah. I'm a fan of these 4 offerings though and would go for them:

I really like Silverstone cases. The SG05 is currently my favorite to build ITX with, and the PS07 is brilliant for MATX builds. They aren't cheap, and the Alta D1 is clearly no exception. I would rock it though. Maybe I can pick one up second hand, as I do have a hard time justifying an $800 case.

After having to buy a case of Aliexpress for my home rack/server I seriously would have considered one of these for both the aesthetics, flexibility and availability if one of the configurations was a drive dense NAS option, which the cage setup in this just doesn't accomodate.

Here are the thickness of the various metal parts and plates used in the ALTA D1:

Expansion slot covers: 0.6mm
Motherboard tray rear panel: 0.8mm
Drive cage covers: 0.8mm
Front connector plate: 2mm
All other SGCC steel plates: 1mm

Aluminum top panel: 5mm
All other aluminum parts: 3mm+
That is surprisingly handy info. Thank You!

Great case and thanks a lot for reviewing it!

I wish there were a variant which is not as high. The space above the motherboard is great, but the space below it seems wasted for most users.

What a bummer that there are no dust filters at the bottom, which is quite an oversight. At last, however, there is a case with a perforated side wall that allows a GPU to exhaust its hot air, instead of trapping it inside the case, causing re-circulation by the GPU and/or worse temperatures for air coolers.

EDIT: I understand the temperature measurements were made without bottom fans installed. Adding bottom fans should bring down GPU temperatures a bit.
