The MS-CF16 Pico-ITX SBC is powered by Intel Alder Lake-N/Amston Lake series processors, offering up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X memory for efficient, high-performance computing. It supports dual independent displays via HDMI and LVDS/eDP interfaces, and features multiple I/O options including 2.5 GbE/1GbE, USB 10 Gbps/5 Gbps and two M.2 slots for flexible connectivity. The board's ultra-compact 2.5" Pico-ITX form factor ensures easy integration into space-constrained environments.

Features: The MS-CF16 Pico-ITX is packed with advanced features suited for industrial and harsh environment applications, including:
  • Compact Pico-ITX Form Factor: The MS-CF16's 2.5" Pico-ITX form factor (101 mm x 73 mm) delivers powerful computing in a small, space-efficient design. It's ideal for embedded systems or portable devices, combining high performance with rich connectivity options. This compact form factor is perfect for integrating into devices like kiosks or industrial robots without sacrificing performance or expandability.
  • Wide Operating Temperature: The MS-CF16 thrives in extreme conditions, operating in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 85°C. This wide range makes it perfect for harsh environments like outdoor installations or industrial machinery, ensuring durability and reliable performance in extreme climates, from freezing cold to scorching heat.
  • Rich Connectivity Options: With multiple I/O interfaces like USB 10 Gbps/5 Gbps, HDMI, and COM ports, the MS-CF16 supports versatile device integration and expansion. It facilitates fast data transfers, dual independent displays, and communication with industrial machinery. The M.2 slots enables expansion for wireless modules or storage, making it adaptable for various industries.
  • Fanless Design for Low Power Operation: The fanless, low-power design of the MS-CF16 enhances energy efficiency and durability. By eliminating mechanical cooling, it reduces wear and tear, making it suitable for environments with dust or debris. The fanless design also supports silent operation, making it perfect for medical devices and noise-sensitive applications.
  • Dual Independent Display Support: With HDMI and LVDS/eDP interfaces, the MS-CF16 supports dual independent displays, allowing users to run two screens simultaneously. This is essential for applications like digital signage, control rooms, or monitoring systems, where clear, real-time data display is critical, enhancing user experience and efficiency without additional hardware.

Applications: The MS-CF16 Pico-ITX board is designed for a variety of industrial and embedded applications, including:
  • Industrial Automation:
  • The MS-CF16's wide operating temperature and robust design make it ideal for industrial automation. It can handle the rigors of factory environments, robotics, and machine control systems, offering reliable operation in extreme conditions, ensuring stable performance for applications requiring 24/7 uptime in tough manufacturing environments.
  • IoT Edge Computing:
  • With its powerful processing capabilities and versatile connectivity, the MS-CF16 is well-suited for IoT gateways and edge computing devices. It helps process data locally in smart cities and industrial IoT setups, reducing latency, improving efficiency, and providing real-time decision-making in remote and decentralized locations.
  • Medical Devices:
  • The compact size, low power consumption, and fanless design make the MS-CF16 ideal for medical applications. It fits seamlessly into portable or embedded medical diagnostic devices, delivering reliable performance in critical healthcare environments where space, energy efficiency, and quiet operation are essential.
  • Outdoor Digital Signage
  • With a wide operating temperature range and durable build, the MS-CF16 is perfect for outdoor digital signage, kiosks, and other public-facing systems. It ensures smooth operation in harsh weather conditions, from extreme cold to heat, making it a dependable solution for public information displays or interactive kiosks.

These features and application areas make the MSI MS-CF16 an essential tool for businesses looking to implement high-performance, reliable computing solutions in challenging environments. For more information about the MS-CF16, please visit https://ipc.msi.com.

It's very cute for something like a HTPC, but with this being marketed for industrial applications the price will be likely... commensurate.

It's gauranteed to be priced highly because the moment someone mentions industrial, enterprise, mission critical, or defense that means it has to pass all sorts of checks, tests, quality control, and certifications and that drives the cost up. But it also means you won't have to worry about it which is worth the added cost.

I've had regular and gaming products fail over the years. I've yet to have that happen (knocks wood desk) with the workstation class stuff I've built. Many of the vendors I liked (Soyo, Abit, DFI, intel, EVGA) are now out of the game or dropped their consumer products. Sadly ASUS has rolled back on their workstation products outside of their lines for higher end xeons and threadrippers and now pushes them under "creator" and while good and free of RGB vomit they aren't as good as the old WS line. If they rolled out an X870 or a z890 WS or higher class board I'd buy it even if the cost was very steep.

This Pico iTX is small enough to zip tie to a GPU.

How?

Notice in the pictures there's absolutely no PCI-e expansion slot. You theoretically could use one of those VGA->USB adapters with their own power supply...but at that point you've got a crazy expensive SBC with a (likely) equally priced GPU and enclosure...at which point how expensive the build will be, and the need for ventilation, will make a standard mATX board just about as reasonable for a small fraction of the price.
