At 61 g, the ambidextrous XM2w 4K weighs the same as the budget XM2we, but updates the internals across the board: PixArt's PAW3395 sensor is used, true 4000 Hz wireless polling is supported, and Kailh GX switches are utilized for the main buttons, allowing for exceptionally low click latency.

That Cons of poor battery life at lower polling rates is interesting usually its high polling rates that take a toll on battery life.

Too heavy and too expensive and too late. For ex. no ribbon cables internally at $130? Engame is sleeping. This mouse has been already eclipsed.

You are not wrong. The industry settled on variants of the several same shapes since they are "safe" and essentially keeps replicating them. Not often do we something REALLY new and out there. That being said, it's a state of affairs that so far is OK for most people since the popular shapes are what "works" for most anyway.

That's not what I meant, the tests are great and useful for everyone, but as you wrote, the companies chose a safe shape, which is related to repeatability and stopping evolution, e.g. for left-handed people, but that's a detail.

In all fairness I think there is a reason we keep seeing close to the same shape over and over and it is because it just works as it should. Take the ergo shape, nearly all gaming ergo's are descended from the classic Microsoft IE. A lot will call Ergos Zowie EC clones but even that was heavily influenced by the IE. XM1 descends from the classic SS Sensei shape, Zowie FK descended from WMO etc. I think we've just got far enough down the chain now that we know whats comfortable for most peoples hands and it's the finer details that are being added or ironed out. like I could release some funky ass mouse tomorrow and it would be original, but it doesn't mean it's good.

I use G502 Rivala 650 and Aerox 5, all wireless, and these shapes suit me best, as well as more buttons on the left side 3, which is great.
And whether ergo is practical for most players, I don't know, but sitting at a desk with an ergo mouse all day long may be, not to mention left-handed players, and we shouldn't stop in development, just develop it, like even toilet paper.

In terms of practicality I use a g502 in the office as well. Much more useful than a 40g mouse designed for FPS. True though in the lack of left handed ergo variant. Pulsar have just released the X3 though which is a left handed ergo based on the Logitech G403 which is interesting.
