Be careful buying the mobos that have the battery covered up by heatsinks that don't come off without pulling the mobo from the case.

I've had issues that required pulling the battery, because shorting CMOS pins did nothing, to actually fix. Its very irritating and time consuming to have to pull the whole mobo just to remove a damn coin cell.

I don't know why Gigabyte and other mobo vendors don't just use a vertical coin cell battery holder at this point if they want to continue slapping big heatsinks and plastics all over their boards. They're not expensive, take up less space, and its not a space issue for desktop mobo to have one either.

At least on these cheaper boards, the battery is under the SSD heatsink, which comes off for obvious reasons, but yeah, it would be very annoying if you have to remove the chipset heatsink to get to the battery.

The mini itx variants both this one and the white x870i have their battery and power connector underneath the shroud so you are SOL if shorting the cmos pins doesn’t work . A clear cmos button should be a mandatory addition to the back I/o or at least the battery power plug be exposed.

The battery is connected via a wire though, like on most these types of boards, but yeah, still not easy to replace, due to where the battery connector is...
Sometimes the CLR CMOS thing doesn't work though, I've had boards where I've had to remove the battery and all over over night to get them to behave again.
