AMD has released its latest Adrenalin Edition 25.1.1 Radeon beta driver today, supporting additional gaming titles, improvements, and bug fixes. In this release, AMD has brought driver game support for the newly released FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH, released today, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which is finally coming to PCs after being console-exclusive for years. AMD has brought day-one support and has managed to fix some software issues along the way. First in line is the improvement in performance while playing Apex Legends with DirectX 12 API, which has been a pain point for AMD's drivers. Previously, some AI enthusiasts experienced lower-than-expected performance while using LM Studio on AMD Ryzen AI and Radeon products, which is now also fixed.

However, some issues persist. Users can experience a partial black screen problem in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 when using Radeon Anti-Lag 2 and Ray Tracing on AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors, intermittent crashes in FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH, driver timeouts in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and performance stuttering in Marvel Rivals with AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 frame generation. Additionally, users may encounter an intermittent AMD Bug Report Tool appearance after using the AMD Cleanup Utility and potential HEVC encoding issues with OBS Studio's Twitch-enhanced broadcasting, which will hopefully be fixed soon.

When's the last time they've done a "beta" driver that wasn't tied to some preview tech like fluid motion frames or anti-lag?

I mean, does this not make sense to use for that? beta as in not finished so they can gather feedback from real world users to then fix it for the full release?
Just see beta as preview drivers I guess.

Locked 2160p120 FPS in FF7 REBIRTH. It dips down to 115 sometimes (using the Steam FPS counter lol) but pretty smooth all the way.

Right, but this isn't that, there's no new tech attached to this one.

FF7 REBIRTH runs fine even with 24.12.1. I tried it before updating to 25.1.1. There wasn't any noticeable performance difference before and after I updated.

I run delta force fine on 24.12.1 with DX12 on my system.

Make sure your chipset drivers are up to date or run the game in DX11 mode.

I have a friend with a 4070 Ti that also has stutter in DF not specifically an AMD issue.

Same. The only issue I have is the AV1 encoding @1080p bug but that's well known to be a 7xxx hardware bug so I just don't do AV1 at 1080p and all is well.

I am pretty sure you would be surprised to see how it runs with 24.8.1. Perhaps it's not as noticeable when you have a card that can run it at high fps, but the stutters/frame drops are still there.
I'm going to try with Dx12 again now that I have a new card, but I'm sure it will suck just like it did with the 6600.

Lies from Nvidia marketing. AMD drivers are rock solid, just read the comments in the TPU forums.

I deleted yesterday my post after It was online for a few minutes.

AMD graphic card drivers are very, very bad for windows 11 pro.

I do not care if another chip brand works better. I own a amd graphic card. that needs better drivers for gnu linux for the bare minimum and much better gaming driver for windows 11 pro. Or at least remove those windows 11 pro amd gpu driver options which are broken. I prefer less features, but features which works.

6800 non xt graphic card had issues -> sold after 3 months
current 7800xt graphic card bugs after bugs in windows 11 pro for gaming.

The nvidia graphic driver for my geforce 660m gtx never was an attention seeker from my previous gaming laptop. That card just worked. I had that notebook for a very long time. Well it was mostly gnu gentoo linux and a bit windows 10 home oem. That driver just worked - without bothering - few features - no issues - regardless of the driver version - for many - many - many - many - many years.

I can say amd graphic cards 6600XT / 6800 non xt / 7800xt - as a first buyer experience with windows 10 pro and later now windows 11 pro is very problematic.

Interesting, maybe your problem lies elsewhere, because I also have a 7800 XT and Win Pro, and I can't recall ever having a single issue with it.

Also, been running this beta version since yesterday, rock solid as well.

I will do a DX12 capture and post later so you can see what my Frametime graphs looks like while I play it. Would be a good way to compare.

And yes I do have a highend card so it does make a difference a 6600 is much lower down the stack so if one is playing at around 60fps those dips and stutter will feel much worse.

Here is a DX11 capture I did in early dec

I have just tried going back to Dx12 now that I have 7900 XTX. Wow, shit. Instead of almost constant 165 fps like I get under Dx11 (or when I roll back the driver), I am down to roughly 100, and it constantly drops below 30, making the game completely unplayable.

The engine or its implementation in Delta Force is one pile of buggy mess it seems.

I'm surprised you are seeing lower frame rate than me when i'm running 3440x1440 vs 2560x1440

however we do also have a difference in CPU's 5800X vs 5800X3D if your specs are correct.

Also you are running this Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Nitro+ on a 650 watt psu?

The CPU is totally irrlevant because it still has several times the performance needed, judging by the usage while gaming.
The PSU is perfectly fine, because the card is using 300W max in my case.

P.S. It has just occured to me I limit the fps to the monitor's max refresh rate. No idea what the real max would be.

Not sure I agree with that I owned a 5800X a 5800X3D is faster. And a reference 7900XTX has a requirement for a 850Watts PSU. You are using an AIB model that has 3x8 pins and you are 200 watts below the recommended psu requirement.

The fact that we are both using AIB 7900XTX's but i'm at higher res and seeing more fps would indicate there is a difference coming from the CPU.

Also that sapphire card should be using way more than 300 watts. I see 390-400 watts on my XFX card when gaming and it hits 100% usage.

The TPU review shows that card using over 400 watts depending on the rest of the config of your system that leave 250 watts for everything else which is cutting it very close.

PSU requirements and what people have been claiming you "need" for years is majorly exaggerated and not true at all.

I used a power meter or whatever is it called (you plug it into the wall and plug whatever into that and it shows you power consumption). There is also total board power metric shown in the AMD control panel, and I know for a FACT the card uses under 300W in my case. I set power limit to -10% and limit max frequency to 2300MHz.
Yes the card reports total board power in excess of 400W in default settings with the OC BIOS. And I still was under 650W consumption when running 3D Mark. Of course, if there was a situation where the CPU would go full all core power while the card was under 100% load, the PSU wouldn't be enough, that's for sure. But that's unrealistic for gaming (the way I run it).

I also run fps cap of 165, because that's the max refresh rate my monitor is capable of. There is no reason why the card should render more than can be used. That's why your framerates are higher.

But I wrote all of this before, there's no point in repeating myself.

This driver supports neither RX 7900 XTX nor Radeon 890M.

The old driver is from November last year!

AMD needs to work harder on the drivers in order to finally release a stable one, that is not plagued by issues.
