Corsair Memory is working on new Padlock flash drives with enhanced hardware-based security. The new drives are bundled with Padlock technology which offers users a quick and easy way of protecting their data. By using the buttons on the Padlock's outer shell, a 1 to 10 digits long user defined PIN code has to be entered and validated in order to receive access to the data found on the NAND flash chip. The Padlock security system is centered around the customizable PIN code and doesn't require any special software to be installed on the machine it is connected to. Also, the Padlock boasts a feature that will automatically lock the drive as soon as it is disconnected. The drives will be available in 1 and 2 GB capacity flavours and will be released later this quarter. The drives will be backed up by a 3 year warranty.
