Hello folks, I have a Gigabyte Windforce 4070 Super and I flashed its bios to unlock more power with the bios from Aorus Master that has +43% power limit and 350W TDP. On the website I saw that there are 2 bioses uploaded and I reckon that 1 is for efficiency and 1 for performance but I can't figure it out which is which. Could you help?

Hey,

OC bios is the default one on the card so if i had to guess i'd go for 95.04.69.40.0F as the file is called "Gigabyte.RTX4070Super.12288.231210.rom" where for the 0E it's called "Gigabyte.RTX4070Super.12288.231210_1.rom"

Both bios have the same max tdp so even if you flash the quiet bios you can still override frequencies and fan speed using MSI afterburner, or reflash the other bios after.

Beware that your Windforce and the aorus master do not have the same exact PCB components:

There are more power regulation components on the aorus master, which means using its bios on your card could shorten its lifespan, and performance might actually be worse than the original bios even at higher GPU frequency. Plus if it dies while having the flashed bios on it and you send it for warranty they might notice it and deny the warranty.

Even if you test and get slightly better performance with the bios the difference you will get will be minimal. You can do this for benchmarking but for 24/7 usage i'd stick to the original bios.

thank you for your response! As far my testing went yesterday I found a significant performance bump of about 13-14 FPS on cyberpunk benchmark, the card right now uses around 265W and on my old bios it never went past 240W, so about a 25W increase. I did a custom curve for the fans and now I'm gaming comfortably at full load, 3ghz core clock at 65 degrees at max. I have 2 vents in the floor of my case and they pump cold air directly in my GPU so i think this helps very very much cooling the card. My hotspot never went above 76 degrees with the fan curve im using right now.

No matter how well cooled is your card the new bios is still pumping more juice into the gpu chip while it doesnt have as much VRMs (power regulation) components than the aorus master, which could damage it over time. I fried a 1080 ti myself doing the exact same thing, perhaps you'll have more luck :)
