Man, I was so pissed. I waited in line yesterday for hours and still got nothing but I went back again today and struck gold. $3099 sticker price before taxes at Micro Center. Lol
But damn it’s pretty.
Best of luck to everybody who’s still playing the lottery and trying to get one. It’s not easy.

Nice. It's a rip-off, but if you're after a 5090 I guess you've made peace with that.

I've just had an MSI Inspire 3X 5080 delivered. Wasn't my first choice in Champagne but it's what the distributor could reserve for me and at least it's a sensible size.

I'll be testing that on software internally for the next few weeks and then reluctantly pass it over to one of the video editors when the 9070XT arrives, most likely. If that doesn't suck I can see myself taking it home to replace the 7800XT.

Thanks, not really mine - just secured it via B2B account manager for software performance/compatibility testing.
I'm personally waiting on a 5070Ti FE as I think that's the fastest thing I'm going to get under 200W* which a hard limit for my HTPC console replacement.

lol she knew how much I wanted one. She was surprisingly very supportive about it. She was a little shocked about the price at first no doubt, but I love how she had my back on this one. Yeah, she even helped with the unboxing. Honestly, she made it look way better than I would’ve. Lol
Thanks man.

Thanks man.

I remember when my wife asked me why I wasn't going to get a 2080ti and I told her it was too expensive and she told me not to be a little B!+C#.

Nothing better than a supportive wife.

lol thank you guys.
Yea she was super cool about it. It was a pretty steep price but I had a 4090 and I sold it for more than I bought it for lol. So it didn’t hurt too bad. I can’t wait to see what it can do. I hope it has a higher boost clock than the astral air.

lol thank you guys.

Fukn sweet packaging. Very nice!

I was looking at getting the Gigabyte 5090 Aorus Xtreme Waterforce WB but will probably just buy an aircooled one then purchase a block for it. Reason is I can always just put the HSF back on and chuck it in my HTPC.

Great to see your wife being fully supportive! I know who's cooking dinner tonight : )

Congrats mate! Happy Days!

Yeah, that's the really weird part about some flagships. If you get lucky with external economic factors the initial price doesn't matter.

I assume that VRAM-deprived lower-end models are going to age like milk (see: 3070Ti, 3080 - useless for AI, questionable for gaming at their intended resolution in 3 short years.) The 3090, 4090, 5090 are unlikely to lose value the same way.

I got lucky and sold my personal Vega64 for nearly 4x what I paid for it at the height of the ETH mining boom. I'd also ordered a pallet of RX 5700 from a Sapphire distributor at ~$290/card in early 2020 (intended to build workstations, but I changed my mind and bought them myself) Those mined a whole bunch of ETH for a little over a year, then I sold 24 of them as four six-GPU rigs for £25K after already mining 20 ETH and knowing when to quit.

Is the 5090 expensive? Yeah. But how many other cards are you going to be able to sell for a profit? AI-capable GPUs are today's ETH mining GPUs.

I really wish people would understand that. They all get shocked about how much I spent but none of them wanna know if I sold my 4090 for $2500, got 5% off with my Micro Center card and I had $100 gift card so I spent virtually nothing. Lol

Even if it was 100% out of pocket it really doesn't matter you looked at the 5090 and decided you wanted one that really should be the end of it there isn't anything available that offers more it's not like a better competing card is cheaper.

Nothing wrong with investing into your own hobby. It paid off with the 4090 hopefully it does the same with the 5090 but even if not you get 2 years with that bad boy min....

Well you got one more view. Cool :)

Buying in the first day means you do not get a card which was returned from someone else. And got electrocuted because of lack of measures of the guy who returned the hardware. (ESD ground plug + esd wire + esd wrist strap)
