ATI held a nice press event at Ibiza this weekend, where they showed off their new R5xx series to the press. We weren't there, but we brought you some nice slides from the presentation for your prerelease viewing experience.

That's my birthday. :)

From the looks of the spec sheet, the only difference between the XT and XL (besides the option for 512mb) is clock speeds.

Last I read it is only clocks. So it seems like a good idea to get a XL and overclock that bad boy. :D

The X1800 sheet lists the X800XL twice, instead of putting the XT at top. Bad time for a typo.

Looks good. bout only number worth looking at are pixel pipelines and 3dMark05 scores. wonder if those are jus estimated or would love to kno wot rig they are running. Noticing also the use of percentage performance increase andwhen you come to the graph comparing to the 7800GTX the use of a different scale. All very simple little details designed to fox the consumer.
But they aint gna slip it past us. We want performance dammit!!!
Looks like the midrange card might be quite good value. If it has the performance. Can't see the point of offering 128/256mb models. They should really have gone 256/512mb. Really push the boat out though then the price for performance wouldn't be so great. Though with games such as COD2 coming up really looking to take advantage of the increased memory I don't think it will be too long before we see something like that come along.

Uhm, what difference does the extra memory do in most games? 128 or 256MB is fine for 98% of all games. Besides, all cheap graphics cards have crap memory when you get 256MB over 128MB so they tend to peform slower than their 128MB counterparts anyhow. On the high-end things are different, but then you end up paying out of your nose for the extra memory since that stuff is stupidly expensive.

Blah, you pimp. I think SLI/Crossfire is a sad way of increasing power. Can't make the chip better, just use two to be faster eitherway. Not my thing.

And the extra memory could help in games, so it doesn't have to compress its textures. Like in DoomIII, if you want to run that on Ultra you need 512MB Gram. I tried Ultra on my 6600GT (256MB) and got a really nice looking slideshow.

If I had the money you'd find me camped outside neweggs warehouse just waiting for the first shipment of crossfire X1800s and mobos.
Also my specs would be though the roof. I would build the most awesome PC ever. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Oh to be a millionaire. :woot:
