I have a 60Hz monitor and Windows runs it at 59.951 Hz

There is surely a reason, so I ask here.

59.94 is a TV standard, just double check your settings

The reason is that's what it supports ? I have a laptop from work that says it runs at 59.99 Hz with no option for 60.0 Hz also. Does this cause any problem in particular ?

My Dell monitor is the same way, with Vsync on I get 59-60 FPS. I wouldn’t worry about it.

This has been going on for many years (see this from 2012). Some say it is a bug in Windows. It is not.

dirtyferret is correct.

The NTSC TV standard dictates a transmission spec of 29.97 frames per second "interlaced". Think of "interlaced" the same way we think of DDR RAM (double duty) or dual-channel - only real/true and not "in theory".

29.97 x 2 = 59.94

Depending on your version of Windows, your graphics solution, how the stars are aligned today (not to mention, Man cannot yet create perfection 100% of the time), that 59.94 may not be exact, or may be shown to be rounded up, or it may be rounded down.

FTR, mine says 59.950 Hz.

I'm having the same situation. When I looked from Windows, it was around 74.9 Hz. My monitor is 75Hz.

Overclock your monitor to 60Hz? Can't remember what program it is to do that though...

it has has no real world impact for you, it's just how broadcast HD (both 1080i & 720p) send their signal. If you want more info on it you can check it out here

I worked in cable broadcast for a decade so I know a little about it but am hardly an expert, if you really wanted more info on it I would say check out a audio video forum

FYI, in windows 11 I believe they round it back up to 60hz
