MSI Launches ''P45-8D Memory Lover'' Motherboard

MSI, a leading manufacturer of motherboard products, unveils its latest "P45-D8 Memory Lover" motherboard which is equipped with eight memory slots. When users want to upgrade the motherboard, they can use the current DDR2 memory to save money as well, also retain the future escalation of the DDR3 memory flexibility. When the price of DDR3 memory declines, users can utilize this to increase the performance.

The new MSI P45-8D Memory Lover motherboard is powered by the latest Intel P45 Express chipset. It supports the Intel Core 2 Extreme / Quad and other multi-core processors with an FSB up to 1600MHz. The main feature of P45-8D Memory Lover is the superb memory expansion flexibility. It has a total of eight memory slots which users can expand to 16GB by using four DDR2 memory or 8GB by using four DDR3 memory.



P45-8D Memory Lover is also equipped with PCI Express 2.0 x16 graphics card slot, which allows up to twice the bandwidth of current PCI Express slot. In audio processing, P45-8D Memory Lover comes with 8-channel high-definition audio codec which can handle multiple sources. Users can enjoy high-definition 3D games and high-quality sound. It's good t'see MSI actually do something with their motherboards and RAM. I'm not sure if Intel based motherboards ever had the same memory issues that the AMD boards (I have used/worked with) have, but it's good to know there working on it and compatibility.

An interesting product, I doubt it'll sell well though.

Also, surely, "When the price of DDR3 memory declines" everyone will be going nehalem anyway?
I know I will be, gonna give it 6-12 months (or until 32nm if its not too far away), let them iron kinks out and drop the silly start prics, then upgrade. Just seems kinda pointless IMO to have a memory upgradeable mobo, what with the release of a whole new socket and platform round the corner.

Or the cooler will fail multiple times, and they will only provide the same cooler 3 times before your chipset is finally cooked enough to warrant buying a real board.

looks like a nice board if you can get over the fact that the memory expansion slots look like a rainbow. why couldn't they use better color scheme like blue black whit green or something along those lines. oh well. aesthetics aside it does look like a nice board.

board looks very nice. i like the idea of msi being more flexable with the use of either DDR2 or 3..... and adjustes automatically for better performance of the memory. MSI
i have used alot never had any problems with them.. you guys noticed that the boards are geting quite expencive arent they

Yea triple channel comes with Intels QPI bus DDR3 is being used on 775 already.
