The nice people at DDRdrive replied to my questions about the DDRdrive:

Q: Can I install an operating system and boot from the drive?
A: Yes

Q: Is the product DDR1 or DDR2?
A: DDR1 184 pin

Q: Can you handle 4x1 GB memory modules?
A: Yes, we handle not only 4 - 1GB but 4 - 2GB unbuffered nonECC DIMMs.

Q: What clock speeds will this product run at? Any benchmarks?
A: We are not releasing our clock speed until product announcement for competitive reasons ;-)

Q: Which operating systems are supported?
A: We will be releasing a high performance custom device driver for the Windows XP/2000 platform and will evaluate alternate platforms dependent on demand.

Q: Can you run RAID with the DDRdrive?
A: RAID functionality has been design goal from the start and is expected to be available post "introduction" as a driver upgrade - no ETA at this time.

Q: How does the external power work?
A: We have a very exciting external power strategy which will be detailed in due course, again sorry we are saving details for product release.

Q: When will you have products available?
A: We are working diligently towards that goal and expect to have product available for sale directly from our website (http://www.ddrdrive.com) at the end of this quarter (1Q2006). The initial "Limited Edition" will be a 512 pieces production run.
