a psu thats a backup. I noticed the plastic flaking off the edge. picked at it and as you see pin is exposed. its a 2x4pin cpu connector

I was thinking of getting an extension 8pin cable and soldering all wired in.

this is the 2nd antec psu ive had issues with. looks like no more antec for me

there is even wire exposed... that looks cheaper and worse than these 30 dollar 850W marsgaming PSUs.

as im looking closer I can see 2 wires that were supposed to be colored yellow have turned to brown and are crispy-ish/stiff. it did work though.
those 2x4 pins are awkward to use. could be I didnt insert them together inside properly and thus a bad connection? the last pc that used it had no issues. could be it had overheated but didnt fail?

2nd antec that has had issues and now on my never buy brand. corsair is on that too.

im thinking maybe ill just get an 8pin to 2 molex adapter cable instead.

i would send this PSU directly to antec and demand an answer about the absolute trash that they are selling.

is it worth the risk to burn down the house or take some components with it?
was it you that exposed the wire?

no, I saw it immediately on the picture when posting here. then looked at the wire/connector and saw it.

if you look on amazon "psu tester" there is 50 sellers selling the same tester. it is absolute garbage. worthless. it said a corsair psu was good when it wasnt.

so not sure how I can test if its good. but dual molex to 8 pin will be fine.....

BOOM!!!! get the fire extinguisher!!!!!

I wouldn’t risk it unless you really like to live dangerously.
Then again, what can possibly go wrong?

Or, you could buy the connector, terminals, and a crimp tool and replace them.

I still want to use my 8320fx pc. so will get a used mb, then use the psu there, the mb only needs a 4pin connector. the other 4 pin connector on psu looks mint so will be fine. ill make sure to only power it when im home so it doesnt blow up hahaha
