Hey,
I am relatively new to the GPU scene; however, I have heard the of the 'aging like fine wine' in association with AMD GPUs' over the years. I just wanted to ask for opinions from people more experienced in the industry. For context the 9070XT is super appealing to me, the raster results and FSR 4.0 announcement are both promising and steps in the right direction and I plan to order one in a couple hours' time.
However, I am a 4k gamer with a 4k 120fps monitor (I don't expect to reach this performance). Hence, I am more than happy to compromise to 4k 60fps where need be and also understand that with a 'mid-range' spec GPU 4k high refresh rate gaming isn't the intended audience (such as with the 5080-5090), so any 20-50 frames above 60 I may get in the meantime I am happy with.
So, my question is, with driver updates, newer Radeon software and overall optimisation can we expect the raster performance to eventually improve and in time increase the FPS and performance of the 9070XT across games? such as to surpassing the RX 7900XTX which is currently performing at 103% of the 9070XT according to benchmarks, or for the 9070XT to potentially progress even further?
I'm less concerned about it being a 'better card' and just more curious as to will the cards performance increase over time on current/modern games as every frame irked at 4k is valuable to extending the 4k 60fps life of this card.
furthermore, what are the expected OC capabilities of this card, can we expect 3% more or potentially up to 10% Given the history of AMD cards and their headroom? I have however heard most models' voltage is locked and as I am looking at power colour that will probably be the case with me so can we expect some performance increase their too?
I am also convinced of the FSR 4.0 technology too, it seems promising and without much compromise if it reaches its potential and I will be using it, I just am curious as to the raster without it in the meantime.
All in all, I'm impressed and keen but with a relatively big financial commitment for a hobby I am just curious to those two points.
Cheers.
