Abit AB-BH6 & Maximal memory capacity

Dear all,

Current configuration: Intel Pentium II - 333 MMX, Abit AB-BH6, 64 Mb SDRAM,
Western Digital 84AA 8.4 Gb, Matrox G200, 3Dfx Voodoo 2, SoundBlaster 64 AWE,
Us Robotics NIC, Samsung 52x Cd-rom, Asus 52x 24x 52x Cd-writer, Windows 98 SE.

Would like to upgrade 64 Mb ram to 512 Mb ram. According motherboard BH6 manual
on Cd-rom the maximal memory capacity of the 3 lanes is 384 ram. According the
online manual on the site http://www2.abit.com.tw/page/be/dow...otherboard&pTITLE_ON_SCREEN=BH6&pSOCKET_TYPE=
the maximal memory capacity of the 3 lanes is 768 ram.
When i Google this... plenty of hits... some sites report max. 384 ram others 768 ram.
I wonder what the max. capacity per lane is? Found similar problem on

Seems like there may be different BH6 revisions... Can't find any revision ID on my board...
Can someone help me out with this?

I think that board uses the i440BX chipset.

Q: What module sizes are supported on my bx-based board?
A: Generally, all modules smaller or equal to 64MB work without problems. No 512MB module will work in a board with the bx chipset, regardless what a vendor might tell you on the website. 128MB modules work as long as they have 8 or more chips (see here). 256MB modules might work, depending on the internal organization of these modules. You need modules with 16 ram chips, each chip organized as 16Mx8. The modules with 16 ram chips organized as 32Mx4 will NOT work, nor will the modules with 8 chips.
