Acer Aspire 5 Ryzen 7 5700u VRAM

Hi everyone,

I have an Acer Aspire 5 notebook with a Ryzen 7 5700U and Vega 8 graphics. Currently, the Vega 8 is allocated only 512MB of VRAM due to the settings in AMD Adrenalin, and I'm unable to modify this in the BIOS. I've noticed that the system has 5GB of unallocated memory that could potentially be used for the iGPU, but I can't seem to change it.

I don't have much experience with flashing BIOS or modding it, so I'm looking for guidance. Does anyone have any suggestions or know of a custom BIOS that could allow me to increase the VRAM allocation for the Vega 8?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Nope, don't do it unless if you want an expensive paper weight, mobiles are the worst about bricking.

You can try the forum of wimsbios. They can modify or unhide the options in the bios. Keep in mind, it will be an expensive paper weight when you brick it.

You don't need to change anything. Those APUs can use up to half of the system ram when needed, it just doesn't say it on the software. I believe Vega tops out at 8GB (not 100% sure but it's at least 8GB) which is more than what it needs anyway.
If I remember correctly you can see this allocation on windows side, on graphic adapter settings window.

If you upgrade your ram. More memory will be allocated to the APU when it needs it.

Unfortunately, since your laptop doesn't support dual channel memory configs because of its single dimm slot, your laptop is still gimped when it comes to memory bandwidth. Memory bandwidth helps a hell of a lot especially when it comes to gaming.
