Acer plans to unveil two new ultra-portable notebooks, the Aspire 2920 and the Ferrari 1110. Looking at the Aspire 2920, it's the first 12.1-inch notebook to use Acer's new Gemstone design theme. The 12,1-inch widescreen (1280x800) 2920 model features Santa Rosa Core 2 Duo, up to 2GB 667MHz DRR2 RAM, Intel GMA X310 graphics (up to 358MB), 250GB hard drive, Gigabit LAN and wireless connectivity. Again with 12.1-inch widescreen display, but this time with white LED backlighting and lots of carbon fiber, comes the Ferrari 1100. This good looking laptop will offer users the AMD M690T chipset with AMD Turion X2 CPUs (from the 1.60GHz TL-58 to the 2.3GHz TL-66 model), 2GB of 667MHz DDR2 RAM (upgradeable to 4GB), ATI Radeon X1250 with up to 960MB of HyperMemory and Draft N Wi-Fi. Both laptops come with a legal copy of Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic or Home Premium. There's no word on pricing, and availability.

lol, these are even slower than the models from like 2 yrs ago haha. I thought they were for high performance and gaming, not solitaire. Lame.

Of course, a 12" screen doesn't really do jack shit except cause eye strain.

Actually, Asus copied Acer. Acer has had the Ferrari line of laptops for years now.

"Ultra Portable."

The heavier the laptop, the better the hardware (generally).
You cant have the best of both worlds.

My computer = ~30-40kg for the case alone
Laptop = ~3kg maybe? (with a screen, speakers, mouse and keyboard built into it)
Thats the reason they have different ranges of laptops. You can own laptops that rival our computers, but you cant class that as "Ultra Portable" obviously. The only thing that disgusts me about this lappie is the graphics :shadedshu

I understand, but sheesh. The thing won't be worth but half of what they're gonna ask
And to top it off, why would anyone want to overpay for a "fancy" laptop that isn't at all fancy (or cool) when it lacks power, significantly.

Because it's small. Let me put it this way....I took my laptop on a plane (15.4") and in coach, I didn't have enough room between me and the seat for my laptop. It's just too close.

Cost doesnt have to be linked to performance. It costs money to create a lightweight laptop range, eg carbon fibre elements that make the laptop strong AND light as opposed to just light.

You are wrong. Totally.

You could have just said "no." Instead of being like "no! your entire existance is invalid!" Subtle ;)
