Advice needed for buying a new PSU

Hello everyone.

Note: The thread I've opened in the System Builder's Advice section is probably too dense thus I'm breaking things up a bit so I can make some progress.

Considering that the PSU that I had initially opted for is a bit pricey, since yesterday I've started some research in the hope of discovering some cheaper alternatives.
I've read various reviews on hwbusters.com and also used the tier list on cultists.network to get comparable alternatives and then checked what the price situation is in my country.
Therefore I made a list with the lowest prices for every model as of today.

This is the PSU I was intent on getting initially:
Seasonic Focus GX-1000W Gold V4 (GX-1000-V4) - 199

These are the alternatives, all Tier A, single rail and 1000W (except for Cougar and Chieftec at 1050):
FSP Hydro GT Pro 1000W Gold (PPA10A3510) - 144
Deepcool PX1000G 1000W Gold (R-PXA00G-FC0B) - 158
Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1000W Gold (PS-TPD-1000FNFAGE-4) - 160
Cougar Polar 1050 Platinum 1050W (CGR-PR-1050) - 161
FSP Hydro G Pro 1000W Gold (PPA10A2413) - 164
Corsair RM1000e 1000W Gold 2023 (CP-9020264) - 167
Super Flower Leadex VII XG 1000W Gold (SF-1000F14XG) - 168
Phanteks AMP v2 1000W Gold (PH-P1000G_EU02) - 174
Deepcool PX1000P 1000W Platinum (R-PXA00P-FC0B-EU) - 176
Corsair RM1000e 1000W Gold 2025 (CP-9020297-EU) - 177
Montech Titan Gold 1000W Gold (TIS0125) - 181
Thermaltake Toughpower SFX 1000W Gold (PS-STP-1000FNFAGE-1) - 182
ASUS ROG STRIX 1000W Gold (90YE00AA-B0NA00) - 186
Chieftec Chieftronic PowerPlay 1050W Platinum (GPU-1050FC) - 189
Corsair SF1000L 1000W Gold (CP-9020246-EU) - 190
Corsair RM1000x 1000W Gold (CP-9020271-EU) - 192
Seasonic Vertex GX-1000 1000W Gold (SS-PS-VER-1000W) - 194
Corsair RM1000x SHIFT Gold (CP-9020253) - 196

The following are 1200W (except for Super Flower at 1300), Tier A, single rail, but given that the prices overlap with some 1000W I figured they are even better options:
Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1200W Gold (PS-TPD-1200FNFAGE-4) - 168
NZXT C1200 1200W Gold (PA-2G1BB-EU) - 175
Cougar Polar 1200 Platinum 1200W (CG31PL120000P01) - 184
Super Flower Leadex VII XG 1300W Gold (SF-1300F14XG) - 187
FSP Hydro G Pro 1200W Gold (PPA12A1401) - 192
Deepcool PX1200G 1200W Gold (R-PXC00G-FC0B) - 193

The PSU is supposed to power the following system or thereabouts:
- CPU: most probably Ryzen 7950X
- RAM: 32 or 64 GB RAM (I'll probably go with 64 GB but it's not settled yet)
- GPU: this is where things go south as I'm likely referencing vaporware, but here goes: a 5070 Ti / 4080 Super / 5080 type GPU if I can get one as close to MSRP as possible (good luck with that). I've abandoned the idea of going with a 7900 XTX.
- Drives: two M.2 Gen4 2 TB drives, a 2 TB HDD and a 4 TB HDD.
- Fans: I'm eyeing the Phanteks G500A which has 4 included and the AC Freezer III 360 which has 3.
^No overclocking as I don't see the benefit.

By the looks of it I should pull the trigger on the Thermaltake GF3 1200. But I want some more opinions on that, because I'm not sure that it will be unanimous.
That's because the Super Flower Leadex 1300 is a little more expensive but packs a bigger punch and the quality is on par if not better.
I know that a wattage of 1200 / 1300 is absolutely overkill for the config in my example but I'm basically not spending any extra money over my initial option.

Thank you.

Pretty much any of those listed should work for your PC.

If you're certain you won't be getting a 5090 class card (600W) any time in the future, any ATX 3.x 850W PSU will also do fine.

Is there anything in particular you're looking for, such as low operating noise? In that case, I'd opt for the not listed FSP Hydro Ti Pro 1000W (or 850W).

@Dr. Dro

About the native 12v-2x6 connector I found some relevant info, it seems that using 2x8 pin is completely fine:
https://www.corsair.com/uk/en/explo...6-vs-8-pin-to-12v-2x6-what-is-the-difference/
So yeah it's probably more marketing than anything else, it's not like PSUs that don't have the 12V-2x6 socket are now obsolete.

@steamrick

I'm very certain, I can't afford a MSRP 5090 let alone a street price one. :))))))
I'll be having mad trouble getting a 5080 for a semi-reasonable price.

No not really, just not noisier than usual to be honest. But I figured that an overkill PSU is going to be pretty quiet anyway since it's not breaking up a sweat.

I have searched for some 850W models:
Chieftec Chieftronic PowerPlay 850W Platinum (GPU-850FC) - 124
FSP Hydro GT Pro 850W Gold (PPA8503510) - 129
Super Flower Leadex VII XG 850W Gold (SF-850F14XG) - 137
Cooler Master V850 Gold V2 Gold 850W (MPY-850V-AFBAG-EU) - 140
Corsair RM850e 850W Gold 2023 (CP-9020263-EU) - 140
Corsair RM850e 850W Gold 2025 (CP-9020296-EU) - 141
Montech Titan Gold 850W Gold (TIS0124) - 143
Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 850W Gold (PS-TPD-0850FNFAGE-4) - 144
NZXT C850 850W Gold (PA-8G2BB-EU) - 144
Corsair RM850x 850W Gold (CP-9020270-EU) - 145
Deepcool PX850G 850W Gold (R-PX850G-FC0B) - 150
FSP Hydro G Pro 850W Gold (PPA8501914) - 152
Super Flower Leadex VII Pro 850W Platinum (SF-850F14XP) - 153
Seasonic Focus GX 850W Gold V4 (GX-850-V4) - 154
Corsair RM850x Shift Gold (CP-9020252-EU) - 156
ASUS ROG STRIX 850W Gold (90YE00A3-B0NA00) - 158
For the cheaper ones yes there is money to be saved compared to 1200W models, but not that much, it was to be expected that bigger ones offer more watts per currency unit. I'm not against going for a 850W one, I'm sure it will suffice, the only issue is getting one at a really good price because as I've said these smaller ones offer less watts in relation to the money.
For example:
Super Flower Leadex VII XG 850W Gold (SF-850F14XG) - 137 € -> 6.20 W/€
Super Flower Leadex VII XG 1000W Gold (SF-1000F14XG) - 168 € -> 5.95 W/€
Super Flower Leadex VII XG 1300W Gold (SF-1300F14XG) - 187 € -> 6.95 W/€
Same series so apples to apples. We can immediately see that the 1000W has a bad price, if it were 155 € it would have 6.45 W/€ which would be somewhere in between the 850W and the 1300W one.
Based on this example I am considering the 850W Super Flower PSU. 50 € is not that much but I can buy something with it.

The FSP Hydro Ti Pro models are really expensive:
FSP Hydro Ti Pro 850W Titanium (PPA8504003) - 224
FSP Hydro Ti Pro 1000W Titanium (PPA10A3803) - 258
And also with limited availability or not in stock.

@dirtyferret

I know it's a little too shoehorned but it does have a bit of merit in the sense that it can give the reader a general direction to follow, and the direction is pretty accurate, but probably most readers will not dig deeper than a couple of reviews after that.
I've read the article and even so there are multiple options, probably price is the decisive factor.
