Hi,

I don't know which air cooler to choose for my new build. The i7-10700k will be stock (no OC).

I love Noctua and I wanted to head on NH-U12S chromax, but I'm afraid it is too low. The higher range will be NH-D15S chromax.

I'm just worried that by its size it hides the rest of the setup because I have not RGB fans.I wanted to stay sober with a black build and only have a few RGB elements (motherboard, graphic card, RAM).

The rest of the build :

Motherboard : ASUS ROG STRIX Z490-E Gaming Graphic card : MSI RTX 3080 SUPRIM X 10G Memory : Corsair DOMINATOR® PLATINUM RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3600MHz C18 SSD : Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 SSD 1TB PSU: : Corsair RM850x Fans : 3 x NF-A14 PWM chromax Case : Fractal Design Meshify 2 Clear TG Black

I chose this motherboard for its style and its RGB elements, but if I have to put a big air cooler, it will be a mess :/

I run a 10850k on stock clocks, but power limits removed. The NH-U12S with a second fan added keeps it at 50-60c during gaming, and it will touch 80c on multiple Cinebench multi-core runs.

Unless you're planning on running 100% CPU load 24/7 in a hot room, it should be just fine with a 10700k.

Then why pay for a "K"?

Other coolers to consider:
be quiet! Pure Rock 2
Scythe Fuma 2

You might even want to step up to the 10900K (Newegg)

Or save another $45 (BestBuy)

i grabbed a noctua NH-U12S chromax for $60 on amazon a while back. its a great HSF, & its almost as good at cooling as the h110GTXi it replaced. its overkill if youre just running stock, but you'll be able to re-install it on future builds as long as they are compatible.

For stock I would just get something like an artic freezer 34 for $30 to 35 bucks. Good balance of cooling and low fan noise.
