Hey fellow TPUers,

Might be a little conufusing but I'm trying to figure out what would be a good AM4 motherboard. Yes I currently have a MSI B350M Gaming Pro but now I want to SLI my 1080Ti but my current board only has one full PCIe 3.0 x16 slot. I'm really keen to ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI boards. Doesn't matter if B350 or X370 as both chipsets offer Overclocking. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated from fellow Ryzen owners.

Little skeptical of ASUS AM4 as I heard the BIOs hasn't been that great

They were horrid at first, don't get me wrong don't mean they were outright bad but when looking at the other AM4 boards they were clearly lacking a certain level of polish, but since have come quite a way. I'm not finding myself constantly complaining about anything anymore and instead just little things I nitpick about.

asrock did an extremely good job with their am4 boards. heres one on sale

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod...57774&cm_re=asrock_am4-_-13-157-774-_-Product

its x370 but has plenty of room between the pcie slots so your sli setup can breath. b350 was always meant for mainstream non enthusiast use. x370 is more of what yoy are looking at with the setup you want. b350 was only supposed to be used with 1 graphics card tho it can run 2.

If you want to SLI, no choice but to go with X370. B350 chipset only supports AMD X-Fire.

I would consider the Asrock's X370 Taichi, you should read Dave's review

^^ What they said. The Taichi seems to be the better of the early released boards. Though to be fair, the 1403 (most recent BIOS) for the Asus Crosshair 6 has proven stable now on the memory front. It's still not as 'easy' as a plug and play to run at the memory's tested settings but you just need to run through the DOCP (XMP) profiles. I'm stable now at 3.822Ghz clock on all 8 cores (1700X) and memory sitting nicely at 3200, 14 timings. Air cooled as well on CPU so it's not bad at all.

my brother owns the asrock x370 killer/sli and it works marvelously.

edit: the gaming k4 is essentially the same board, just a different audio chip and lan. both are moot points in my opinion as the onses on the killer sli are already really good.

Too expensive honestly as the features will go to waste and the extra Overclocking features won't really do much since mine tops out at 4GHz

In that case just grabs msi sli plus. I have done a couple builds with it at the shop zero issues.

i like my asus - had a gb before... the asus has a scheduler/performance bias function that really adds performance to the chip pretty much across the board.

upload_2017-8-8_21-7-9.png

Also in FarCry 4 i get WAY higher framerates and less stuttering with it on.... (usually get 10.4-10.5 with superpi but had a bunch of stuff open).

only issues is the voltage control is iffy depending on what your chip wants, and also there is no bank group swap setting (all the others are there in the 0805 bios).

Man so many options under $150 that look decent

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check it out

Just bought a ASUS ROG STRIX B350-F GAMING. it's costly than most B350 boards, but i think it has the same VRM as the Asus prime X370-PRO and looks good in all black.

My x370 Pro Carbon has been great so far. I've had it a couple months. The first few BIOS revisions were crap but they've ironed out a lot of the issues.
