AMD has officially stated that its portfolio of RDNA 4 generation graphics cards consists of Radeon RX 9070 XT, RX 9070, and RX 9060 XT models. Last December, a longer list of GPUs appeared online—this pre-Christmas 2024 leak revealed Radeon RX 9060, RX 9050 and RX 9040 identifiers. Team Red seems to be working on populating the lower end of its Radeon RX 9000 family—similarly, Team Green is reportedly expanding its "Blackwell" GPU generation into the "entry-mainstream" segment with their RTX 5050 card design.

Late last week, a Mexican PC hardware retailer inadvertently added Radeon RX 9060 and 9050 categories (not product listings) to its webstore. Noted graphics card watchdogs picked up on the shop's accidental adding of search filters; prompting the swift removal of NDA-busting material (by the time of writing). Resultant VideoCardz news coverage has spread the word of possible forthcoming launches of much cheaper RDNA 4 GPU models. AMD and involved board partners are likely aiming to get lower-mid-range Radeon RX 9060 XT cards out of the door by the second quarter of 2025. Recent leaks indicate Radeon RX 9060 (non-XT) and RX 9050-class products potentially arriving at retail closer to summertime, with speculated "Navi 44" GPUs onboard.

Intel must have really gotten under AMD’s and Nvidia’s skin to get them to return to budget GPUs so drastically.

Thank goodness. Lot of builds out there for folks who don't game much, but may need more muscle then APU's provide. Would be amazing if some of these were low profile cards.

Not everyone can afford or even want $600+ GPUs

There is still a big market for the occasional gamer, it might even be a bigger market than the mid-range GPUs

This is what I would call the midrange actually, its insanity that a RX9070XT realistically goes for about 900 - 1000 euros....how is that midrange? thats an insane amount of money.
But because of that it will be the 60 and 50 that will actually be about 400 to 600 in the stores, aka midrange.

AMD is the great master of chiplet reuse... I wouldn't be surprised if they repackaged the Strix Halo main chiplet with a 256-bit or 192-bit bus to LPDDR5X-8500 memory to make a nice mid-range Radeon.

Some parts of the chip would be wasted but then LPDDR5X should be significantly cheaper than GDDR6, which would offset the difference in cost.

I'd wager it's a huge market, but one that doesn't really game a lot of places like steam. A lot are only interested in minecraft, fortnite, MOBA, etc and so forth. Heck, i know folks absolutely addicted to farm sim or truck sim games who have archaic gpus. I picked up a dirt cheap Radeon 6400 for one family member, and that's a whopping 500% boost to their graphics power.

- Interesting proposition, but far more likely that we'll see a rebadged 7600 step in for the 9050. the iGPU of Strix Halo will get salvaged as lower tier Strix parts that AMD can still charge $1000+ for. It's not going into a low rent dGPU.

I doubt even N44 is going to have enough salvage dies for a 9050 considering it is absolutely tiny (<150mm2).

I suppose that could make some sense if they are reusing Strix Halo chiplets that have a failed NPU or other non-GPU portions, but otherwise the main chiplet on Strix Halo is pretty large, like 300mm2, so it would be a waste to use working ones, even if LPDDR5x-8500 is cheaper than GDDR6 (which I am not sure of, GDDR6 is like $18 for 8 GB these days); AMD has their Navi 44 chips in development with 32 CU, should be like ~180 mm to ~190 mm; a cut down version of those are what probably will end up in this product. If AMD were to reuse a chip for the 9050, I think it would more likely just be a rebadged RX 7600 instead; the Rx 7600 chip of course is made on the older, cheaper TSMC 6 process and rebadging it to sell for cheaper would take basically no effort on AMD & their board partner's part.

I'm seeing the exact opposite, neither care which is why they still have 8GB.
Or better, Nvidia doesn't care and AMD just matches them.
Both AMD and Nvidia had no low-end cards the previous generation, effectively the cards from the gen before that slotted in in that class.
You can do that for 1 generation, but with 2 it gets a lot harder to sell, or more specifically, market.

A midrange product having its price elevated due to greed, taxes, ece doesnt make it not a midrange product.

Entry level these days is $300, there's almost nothing below that and you wouldnt really WANT anything below that these days.

Entry level is way closer to the $200 mark when modern/capable.
Your priorities are screwed if you can't figure this out.
