AMD Ryzen Chipset Drivers 6.07.22.037 Released: Adds Ryzen AI 300 Series Support

AMD today released the Ryzen Chipset Drivers 6.07.22.037 WHQL. The drivers are essential for notebooks powered by the latest Ryzen AI 300 series "Strix Point" processors, as they add driver support for the various SoC interfaces of the chip. The drivers are also needed to expose the NPU of Ryzen 7000 "Phoenix," Ryzen 8000 "Hawk Point," Ryzen 8000G desktop APUs, and Ryzen AI 300 "Strix Point" processors as a classified device in the Windows Device Manager, as well as give Windows 11 the ability to read out the NPU in the Task Manager, so you can look for things there such as real-time NPU utilization, memory footprint, and driver version. The driver package also updates the drivers of the various components, including GPIO, PSP, PPM, USB4 host controller, etc. It also adds program support for various interfaces of the SoC, including SMBus, Hetero, and RCEC. Asus seems to have a deal with AMD for a higher strix allocation, they even had the exclusivity on early laptop reviews. The youtubers who reviewed those strix laptops didn't really do a deep dive into the new arch, it was really a review of the laptop itself. I would expect "real" reviews to come in later.

Installed these on my PC over the weekend, of course my motherboard/CPU is almost 4 years old so maybe not impacted but have zero issues.

Yes, those results were pretty suspicious, I'm really waiting for a ThinkPad of other Lenovo laptop review with better drivers. None of the Asus reviews mention driver versions or the fact that it's an exclusive for Asus.

HP Omnibook ultra is coming much later in August so it certainly seems like some sort of exclusive deal for now.

Anandtech's review shows the new IGP as being extremely impressive; the CPU, on the other hand, seems underwhelming in single threaded loads. Exclude the FSR2 results from the chart below and you get a 69% improvement over the 7940HS.

Edit: the laptops being reviewed are thin and light while the older chips are allowed to use more power.

It also matches or even surpasses the M3 Pro in multithreaded workloads while consuming the same amount of power.
