Are my ssd temps high ?

Hello

I have a crucial 256 sata for a good time and it never reached that much of high temps ( 30 idling and 40 ish with usage )

However , i´ve recently bought a wd green sata 1tb and it idles at 40 ish and can get up to 47 when downloading / installing games on it

They ´re both in the ssd tray (pattern case position )

they´re not in contact with each other ( the wd has some psu cable above it but that is it , it is not being subjected to excessive cable force either)

I have one fan to the drives as well

Could something be causing it maybe ? like sata cable ? Does i matter the psu sata cable i use ? My psu is xpg adata pylon 650w

I have both new sata cables that came with my msi board and my PSU doesn´t have any problem and the cables are all OK

I have a couple WD drives green ones that both have large cache and seem to run about the same temperature.

The good news is they are rated up to 70c operating temps, so I think you're doing just fine.

ah i see

i thought it was something wrong at first since my crucial is about 10 degrees lower

They most likely just have their temperature sensor in different positions.

Mine have 16mb of cache, I think this is why they might be a little warmer running. A lot of drives seem to come only equipped with like 8mb.

Great storage drives though. I like that they sleep, but it takes a few seconds for them to wake up.

No worries, they'll last a very long time. I have 2 640gb models. And have had them for at least 10 years now. Never once an issue with them.

Have a look in hwinfo, I wonder if the crucial has 2 sensors.

But either way even the higher temps are fine.

i thought i got some bad unit or something but if it is fine then ok

gaming on the ssd has lower peaks as well than constantly downloading / installing on it (47c)

While gaming it stays like 35 38 degrees ( wd 1tb )

the crucial has lower average temps though

I have a WD Green SN350 2TB in my Lenovo T14 and it is 35C all day every day. The 15W CPU heat seems to be the main source heat.
