Are there HDMI -> Displayport cables?

Hello,

I got a PC with 1x displayport and 1x hdmi connector at work and need a hdmi->displayport cable to connect the second monitor to PC. Monitors are displayport, DVI and VGA only. Problem is that with a cable that has displayport on one side and hdmi on the other there is no picture. College said it technically not possible to get signal with that cable from hdmi on pc to displayport on monitor. College also said it would work the other way displayport on PC and hdmi on monitor?

Yes, but they're all active cables that needs to be plugged into a USB port as well.
Something along the lines of this.

However, HDMI to DVI doesn't need an active cable. You're limited to lower resolution on those though, unless it's dual-link DVI.

What's the screen resolution and do you need audio? If 1200p or under, and no audio, use an HDMI to DVI cable or adapter.

HDMI can't output a DP signal but DP can output a HDMI signal.

To make HDMI>DP possible you will need some type of adapter. Maybe check on Amazon or something for a HDMI to DP adaptor.

there are none, you need an active adapter… and then you need to make sure you get one that will do 4k60, not 4k30…
(DP is packetized data, HDMI is just a data stream)
