The ASRock Radeon RX 9070 XT Taichi features the most powerful cooler of all the models that we've tested so far, resulting in a whisper-quiet gaming experience. It also comes with the highest power limit and biggest factory overclock, which makes it the fastest RX 9070 XT.

@W1zzard Can you put the 9070 non XT in the efficiency graph.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
Again, the pricing is horrific with these OC models.

3% faster than the $599 models,
22% more expensive.

Is it really worth paying $130 to get 2 more fps? This method AMD are using to rebate only the base-model cards makes these OC models miserable value and the ENTIRE POINT of RDNA4's launch was to be much better value. Right now the 5070Ti is unobtainable, but at $730 this isn't even "Nvidia minus $50". It's "Nvidia minus $20" and it's arguably not as desirable as the 5070Ti either.

These are $600 cards against $750 competition. The fact that the $750 competition is selling for $900 doesn't change the fact because this "$730" Asrock is selling for $800-850 too until the supply/demand situation balances out in a few months.

The taichi cards typically have been the cheapest premium models from all vendors. When pricing actually comes down it should be a great contender for value pick with an eye for a better cooler.

The worrying news is that pricing for these factory-OC "premium" cards probably won't come down - at least not for several months.

Various sources (retailers) have confirmed that AMD are only providing rebates to retailers to hit the $599 MSRP on the three base/MSRP models: The Sapphire Pulse, the PowerColor Reaper, and the XFX Swift. All of the other "premium" models are not getting rebates, so they'll continue to be sold by retailers at the price the retailers paid for them, and retailer margins are pretty slim.

AMD (Frank Azor) promised that retailer rebates for the three MSRP models are not a launch-only stunt, so the pricing should come down in time once the botters and scalpers have had their fill. If it's not one of those models, there are no promises that have been made by AMD. They cost more, and they're likely to continue to cost more because AMD have never provided rebates to retailers to these models and are very unlikely to do so at this point.

Well, eventually they have to if Frank isn't (indirectly) lying. Having to explain to your buyers why a slightly better cooler added 20% to the cost of a card isn't going to fly.

It's $729 at Microcenter, from $599, it's not that crazy given the cooling + OC.

Ehhh I'd draw the line at 20%. That typically gets you into the next tier or not far off.
That's a 21.5% bump from real MSRP. The Red Devil from Powercolor, at $849, is a whopping 42% increase! Not to mention the XFX AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Mercury White Magnetic Air Overclocked ($939). Given the state of affairs with the graphic cards prices, I'd consider this not THAT crazy of a bump. It's not just the OC, it's the fact the card is certified working at this OC level, meaning better components. And from my experience, Taichi is a great quality label.

Man, the GPU market is in one sad state of affairs. I'd like to upgrade from my 3070, but at this point, I'll probably have to buy second hand like I did with the 3070. The "market" is absolutely terrible. It's like it doesn't exist anymore and has instead become the wild west. No longer can one just go into a store and purchase a damn GPU because they're either "out of stock" or you have to jump through X amount of hoops like a fucking animal at the circus. And even then, there's no guarantee you'll be able to buy the card you want. This shit is absolutely INSANE :banghead: :banghead:

I really wonder where the DP 2.1b standard was introduced.

May I ask you to check if the DP are correct?

Page 4
Display connectivity includes three standard DisplayPort 2.1b and a HDMI 2.1b.

Is this the graphic card from this topic?

The reaper card also only has DP 2.1a

Very convincing ASROCK.

750Watt on the Graphic card Box.
850Watt on the product page, assuming it is the same graphic card:
The homepage only knows about three graphic cards, and only one is named Taichi:

And seeing that card still there next to some other unsold 9070 non xt cards, they are not worth the asking price. Maybe the crazy people finally bought all the overpriced stuff and are happy now. When the card arrives its april. too late for the "gaming season".

Same story here with my 3060 Ti, there is just nothing reasonable to upgrade to unless I spend an arm and a leg so its gotta last for who knows how much longer at this rate. 'luckily it does play everything I'm playing currently but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't like an upgrade for the newer games or just an upgrade in general'
I don't even bother with e/retailers in my country anymore but the second hand prices are also messed up or just nonexistent. 'for example the second hand 4070 Super prices are also through the roof like its yet another mining craze or something..'

Atleast in India many retailers have unsold stocks of RTX 50 series on shelves since launch day. Here RTX 50 series is way worse value proposition than scalped US prices thanks to nGreedia(neither is 9070 series).

Shitsus TUF 5070Ti is priced at $1328.

850 is a steal... They do a 1000 here. I can't even get a base model for that price.

Taichi has been solid for me. I still have a Taichi x370 mobo that I got in the 5th century AD. It's extra features are worth it if you have the funds. You're getting a better cooler, dual BIOS, LED switch if you don't want the RGB stuff, more phases (although I'm not sure how much their base version has).

You can't look at % increase in price. I know GN likes to throw out % extra in terms of price premium. It's not comparible to other tiers. $130 extra on a $600 seems like more v $130 extra on a $1,000 card.

No smart person would spend $130 more for 3% faster performance, but instead for a much quieter card in any load scenarios. Many will value that, people very sensitive to noise, like me.

My previous Powercolor 6800 Fighter was overbuilt... it was quiet in all scenarios, I loved it.
My current 7900 XT reference has good cooling, but it's not overbuilt. If I run it at 100% load fans will spin at 80% which is audible and a turn off for me, so I prefer to reduce graphical settings and make it run up to 80% load where fans stay at 60% making it quiet enough for me.

long way of saying that, if I could go back in time, I'd gladly spend an extra $100 on my 7900xt if it were massively overbuilt / always quiet

Yes you should.

First most ppl that buy a high end model want to OC and/or reduce noise. How do you measure if it's a good deal? Compare the price increase to performance increase (%) and then add what you are willing to pay for extra features.

Plus one would assume that the 1000 bucks card would need better cooling to achieve the same performance boost, so it would be more expensive to manufacture (normally more W/mm^2, and that tends to not scale linearly).

On a side note watching der8auer overclocking the red devil a model of overclocking fame, it doesn't look good for high end models, only undervolting produced results and at that point the only thing you are getting is a potentially quieter card and some features.

Mostly for the more premium build, feel and look of the card, in other words most people pay the extra for the aesthetics. The more robust VRM design, higher power limit and slightly better performance are just added bonus.

In my case it is also partially for the resale value. The price difference between the Pulse and Nitro+ is less than 100 bucks, so I went for the Nitro+. From my past experience I can easily make back the 100 bucks in 2-3 years time when I sell the card, because the more premium model will be easier to sell and fetch a better price over the more basic Pulse.
