ASUS today announced a VU Air Ionizer series of monitors designed to enhance users' well-being with a host of innovative features. The 23.8-inch VU249HFI-W and the 27-inch VU279HFI-W models feature FHD IPS panels with 178° viewing angles, 100 Hz refresh rates, and 1 ms Moving Picture Response Time (MPRT). Meanwhile, the top-of-the-range VU34WCIP-W boasts a 34-inch 1500R curved panel featuring USB Type-C connectivity, a 100 Hz refresh rate, and 1 ms MPRT. Each model has a built-in air ionizer that's able to remove up to 90% of airborne dust within three hours for improved air quality. The monitors also feature TÜV Rheinland-certified Low Blue Light and Flicker-Free technologies to reduce eye strain. In addition, eco-friendly packaging can be repurposed into multiple organizers and a phone stand.

Fresh, clean air
Powered by nano-ion technology, the air ionizer in each of these monitors is positioned to purify the air directly in front of the user, effectively removing pollen, allergen, and other pollutants, and reducing 90%i of airborne dust in just three hours. The ionizer has an effective coverage area of 1 m³, purifying air throughout a workspace for comfortable productivity. With no filters required, ASUS VU Air Ionizer series monitors seamlessly combine air purification and cutting-edge display technologies in one streamlined design.

SmoothMotion technology
For all monitors in the series, SmoothMotion technology offers up to 100 Hz refresh rates and 1 ms MPRT to eliminate tracing, delivering crisp and clear visuals. The 23.8-inch and 27-inch models feature an IPS panel with 178° viewing angles for consistent colors. The 34-inch model uses a 21:9 ultrawide-screen VP panel with 178° viewing angles, providing 35% more onscreen space than a similar-sized FHD panel for more immersive viewing.

Eye Care Plus technology
The Eye Care Plus features in this monitor series enhance viewing experiences with TÜV Rheinland-certified Low Blue Light and Flicker-Free technologies for enhanced comfort, even after long hours of viewing. Plus, a Color Augmentation feature supports users with color-vision deficiencies, enabling them to more easily distinguish onscreen colors. There's also a Rest Reminder feature to help users manage eye fatigue via gentle onscreen reminders.

Sustainable packaging
The packaging of each monitor can be repurposed into practical, eco-friendly desk essentials to create neat and organized workspaces. The packaging for the VU249HFI-W and VU279HFI-W models can be folded into a phone holder, desk organizer, and a small laptop stand. Similarly, the box for VU34WCIP-W can be reused as a phone holder, desk organizer, a laptop stand, and a file holder. The laptop stands, and phone holders have been designed to promote proper posture and reduce neck and back strain.

So behind the times. In June 2018, I got a Powertec Lever Gym. The cardboard was heavy duty, so I made a small set of drawers and shoe track.

I only dismantled it a few months ago.

I'll give it to them, at least it's a novel concept.

If it's a good panel and doesn't significantly increase cost or noise then it seems useful.

It is, yeah. There also isn’t any actual strong proof that said air is in any way really beneficial for one’s health. Actually, it appears that it’s more harm than good, so…

Edit: Should probably qualify that I am talking about ionized air here. Not just air in general. That one IS quite useful for one’s health. Obviously.

The PR image reminds me the cheapest photoshop images all scammers put on Amazon, Alibaba, etc for their sh*tty products.
I shame ASUS is at this level now.

Its a stupid idea for sure. If you want an air purifier, you BUY an air purifier. If either the air purifier or the display itself stops functioning, you have to buy a whole new unit. We're already at the point where we throw away broken products that still have a majority of their components working or that are reusable. This just adds to it.

Asus: We put some vents for ionized air at the back of the monitor that will clean up air for 1 sqm in front of the monitor.

First, it was scented rodentia, now this....

Where is it gonna end ?

Like MentalAcetylide said...if you want/need an air purifier, BUY ONE...a REAL one, not this over-hyped, over-priced piece of AsSus poopola :D

That said, I have had one in my home office for years, but it is over near the door, where it gets a constant influx of fresh air, cleans it, and outputs it into my work/play environment...

If I have a laser printer for ozone production, do I still need an air ioniser?

Maybe ASUS will start selling scented cubed candles Scent of Ass or Burnt Electronics as parental controls that fit on top of a new line of anti-gamer monitors that sour the air and discourages long hours behind the computer.

Interesting turn, but ionizers tend to make air impurities deposit on surrounding surfaces, while ozone machines convert them to gaseous CO2 and H2O. I wonder - will this new-fangled contraption have a dust filter to wash?
