Hey everyone been fiddling about with my new kingston HyperX ram which is 1066mhz but doesn't come programmed to run at that speed by defualt, it tells you need to set it manually but what is really annoying me is that my board says it supports ddr 1066 but crashes whenever it gets near that speed any ideas ? :toast:

You probably need to manually set the voltage and timings too.

Also, you may need to bump the nb voltage up an extra notch. :)

Timings are 5-5-5-15 thats what it says I need to set it to and no luck also rated 2.2 volts tried 2.4 in desperation and no luck :(

Ok, then I am definitely leaning towards upping your northbridge voltage. What is it at currently?

Are you running the right mem ratio. NB strap?

Are you OCing your CPU/FSB at all?

No im at stock atm and running it 1:1 NB voltage is set at auto.

But you wont ever get near 1066 at 1:1 cus the CPU mobo cant do 2000Mhz FSB, lol.

1:1 on a q6600 266FSB sets ram at 533Mhz. Using that ratio and upping to 1066Mhz ram pushes q6600's FSB to 533! :eek:

You need a different ratio.

Edit : unlinked the fsb and memory speeds and raised the NB to 1.4volts also memory is at 2.2 and set the ram to 1066 and so far its working :) a thanks is in order for you
