ASUS enters the magnetic switch keyboard market with the ROG Falchion Ace HFX. This is a 65% form factor keyboard that uses every accessible surface for something useful, including hardware controls to put rapid trigger and actuation point customization at your disposal, using software to further enhance the user experience.

Man, it's sad too to see Asus still using that ugly ROG font. You got a cold @VSG ?

> No tactile or clicky switch options

I made this account because I'm disappointed of this being pointed as a negative aspect
This should never be a negative part on a Hall effect keyboard, you simply can't make it tactile without making it feel weird.

Unless you somehoooow manage to discover some technology which lets you move the tactile point, but I wish good luck with that.

It’s not bad, but considering the existing options and the upcoming ones, as well as the overall state of the market, the “Asus Tax” isn’t something that makes sense. It might have been easier to swallow if the Crate software package wasn’t a pile of manure, but… meh.

Try some of the Gateron tactile magnetic switches and get back to me on this. Adoption from keyboard brands has been poor, but there are good quality switches out there.

Not sure what's the cold assumption coming from.

Gateron has no magnetic tactile switches at the moment though?

And seeing the implementation on the glorious tactile HE, the tactile point doesn't move, so it's bad.

Let's not forget about losing the benefits of hall effect if you add any tactile component which is contactless actuation and reduced wear.

They do, I saw the switches in September and there are some domestic partners ready in China. Kailh has some also.

Yeah, the Glorious implementation is not great. But there are ways to do it without feeling like it's a worse mechanical switch.

But does the tactile point change when you set a different actuation?
If no then it will feel bad no matter what you do.

You will set 0.1 but there will be no tactility
You go to 3.0, oh the tactile point was really early..

Do you see how it makes no sense for standard tactile?

So many mechanical switches have the tactile point not at all related to actuation though, it's not like this is limited to HE switches. I am talking purely in terms of how the switches feel to type on and use.

Interesting switches, they sound better and have less wobble compared to other HE switches.
I hope they'll release bigger layouts with these switches. They should also improve the software until then.

I remember hearing from someone that the ROG NX switches are a recolor/rebrand of some existing switch. Not sure what was the name for the original though, I don't remember.
