I have the Xbox one X and I am trying to utilize the 120hz I can get out of the monitor so it can sync up with my xbox on x to play at 120hz.

do I need to get a usb 2.0 to play at 120hz? Because when I use the HDMI I have now on it, it stays at 60 hz on the monitor even when the Xbox has been set to 120hz. But I know both the Xbox and the monitor are capable of 120hz .

Please help!

So the HDMI 2.0 cable should be able to push my monitor to the 120 hz?
XB1X uses Freesync2 over HDMI, you definitely need to be using an HDMI cable but I'm not sure if your monitor will support the XB1X since it's only a Freesync(1) monitor and not a Freesync 2 monitor.

On the XBox go to Home > System > Settings > Display & Sound > Video output > Advanced > Video modes > Variable Refresh Rate

If you haven't already, check the various options on the monitor and ensure that Freesync is enabled - you may need to change to a specific game mode for it to work. Also bear in mind that not all Xbox games support Freesync, some are locked to 30 or 60Hz

I play rainbow six siege, and the Xbox is currently set to 120hz , but the monitor itself is only reading 1080p / 60hz . I have a HDMI 2.0 coming in the mail tomorrow but I need to know if I need to return the monitor and find one that can work side by side with the Xbox to play at 120hz

I'm actually not even aware of any games that support 120hz.... Maybe some indie type games etc or just the UI, All AAA games are either 30 or 60.

I think you may need a different monitor. There's no harm in trying it with the HDMI 2.0 cable when it arrives, but the XBox requires an HDMI 2.0 display for 120Hz and the Asus webpage for your monitor says that it only has an HDMI 1.4 input.

I may return it then. Next is to find a monitor in the same price range that has the 2.0 120hz.
