be quiet! had plenty to show at their CES 2025 suite—TechPowerUp staffers took a look at a wide range of already announced power supplies and CPU coolers. The German hardware brand is making sure that its power supply product ranges are prepared—compatibility-wise—for the incoming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5000 and AMD Radeon RX 9000 graphics card lineups. The Dark Power 13 PSU family was represented by the hefty 1600 W Pro model and relatively svelte non-Pro 1000 W option. be quiet! representatives re-confirmed that the whole Dark Power range (750 W - 1600 W) is ready for the new generation of GPUs.

TechPowerUp also spotted two Straight Power 12 models—the larger one being a range-topping 1500 W unit. The smaller demo model seemed to be the 1000 W variant—both are comfortably in the next-gen compatibility safe zone, but this also applies all the way down to be quiet!'s Straight Power 12 750 W model. A lone Pure Power 12 M 1000 W demonstration sample sat in between its Dark and Straight compadres. be quiet! stated that the Pure Power 12 M range is next-gen ready, going from the lowly 550 W all the way up to 1200 W.

be quiet! had various Light Loop and Pure Loop 2 FX liquid coolers on display in Las Vegas—according to company reps, these models are fully compatible with the latest Intel (LGA1851) and AMD (AM5) processors.

Air cooling options were also present at be quiet!'s suite—with the Dark Rock and Pure Rock 2 families well represented. Again, reps re-confirmed full compatibility with the most modern of desktop processor platforms.

Although I like be quiet's products overall, and these seem nice & all, it seems like the only reason most psu mfrgr's come out with new models is whenever nGreediya comes out with new powah-sucking, mega-kw GPU's...

So sad :(

Frankly if I am picking a new PSU with my new build it's mostly because I want to have the 12V2x6 connector (same cable used but the connector on the PSU side is reportedly safer) and because my 850W PSU is not enough anymore for a 5080 or 5090 (or really near the limit which I don't like noise and efficiency wise)

I will be looking at a 1000-1500W silent one, preferably with GaN technology and FDB fan, they are better.

Doesn't change a thing about it cramming high current over tiny contact and with tiny connector causing very high current density.
That safer cable would use existing size contacts on PSU end to have proper safety margins at least in there.

If building electrification was based on as wimpy design as that Nvidia's connector there would be lot more electric fires...
