I can get:
7700 XT - €433, on eBay €390 new
3080 10 GB - €440 new

9060 XT 16GB MLID thinks it will be $399. I agree it for sure won't be $349, after all it is the first one below 9070.
In EUR if 9070 non-XT are €750-800, 9060 XT will be €540-580. That is crazy and DOA if you can already get a better 7800 XT for €500.
And performance only 4060 Ti to 7700 XT.

5060 Ti 16 GB, even crazier, around €600.

3080 is almost 20% faster than 7700 XT and almost 60% faster in RT.

But some games like Indiana Jones have trouble with 10-12 GB. I had a 4070 SUPER and 12 GB was not enough, it dropped to 1 FPS.
Currently I have 2080 Ti 11GB and I can try if it is enough for 1440p Supreme.

But at this point I think that much more performance should in average be better. Of course none of these cards can run every 2024-2025 game 1440p maxed out. For that you need at least 4070 Ti SUPER or 5070 Ti, but that's more than double the price, even tripple for top 5070 Ti models like Vanguard.

You answered your own question. Don't buy anything, wait till GPUs affordable for you will be substantially better than 2080 Ti (id est 4080 upwards).

Just pick a card already, you have so many threads relating to this, if you don't do it for yourself you will never get one. No more hesitating.

Indiana Jones and low end Cards and 400€ does not fit.

I consider my 600€ Powercolor radeon 7800xt hellhound as an entry card for europe. That was in may 2023 - the bar for entry cards have moved higher.

The radeon 9070Xt in europe are not worth it anymore. Soon its summer and the usable period will be shorter. you better have bought the 4090 when it was available for a reasonable price. I wonder if you have a decent gaming platform as hole, decent mainboard, processor, dram.

I would not say so.
The 9070XT is around $950 while the 5080 is $1570. Not saying the $950 is good but much lower than NV. The 5070 Ti is $1307. All prices in Norway. So to be blunt, if you need a card now, it is an obvious choice and NV is not one of it, no matter how you slice it. I think the price for 9070 XT will also drop a bit for NV I'm not sure if the price will drop $600 to be OK-ish

Checked the 4070Ti Super and the price is $1100

It's funny how people keep mentioning Indiana Jones everywhere, which has an obvious VRAM failure, while all other games work fine with 12GB.
And they are willing to pay more just for the VRAM, because there is a failure in one game.
And they don't ask themselves if there is something wrong with that game. No, there is not enough VRAM. They want to turn all the settings sliders to the right on the video card up to $500 and have everything perfect everywhere, no matter what is launched.

If IJ was an adventure game it would be IJ, but it's an infiltration action strange mashup.

OR, wait until some gpus will become CHEAPER. No point on spending more, for example "recent" 3080 affordability is HEAVEN, and they were... stupidly overprice back days. ;)

I really wanna say the 3080, but 10GB sucks. Just stay with the 2080 Ti and upscale, you've got a pretty decent card.

If you're a pure gamer the 9060 might be interesting, but they've got no encoders and it sucks for pretty much anything else at the moment. Check for B580s, might be okay.

They do now. RDNA 4's encoder was completely redone from the ground up. Massive gains in that area.

The areas they still don't measure up, imo:

- Lack of an unified compute runtime that is well developed and supported on Windows
- Well-documented APIs for developers to implement their technologies, so we can avoid a repeat of the VAC fiasco in the future
- Productivity-focused driver equivalent to Nvidia's Studio branch, maybe they could revive the gaming/pro switch concept they introduced with Vega FE, except this time make it actually work
- Reliable WHQL driver schedule without quarterly gaps getting practically no day 0 game ready updates
- Some more polish in their legacy API (DX9-11, OGL) drivers, which already greatly improved since the days of old thanks to PAL
- Equivalent performance at the high end (at the risk of jinxing it, may be coming by UDNA)

That's it. All of these issues AMD seem to be aware of and are actively working on it

And a personal request of mine:

Remove the ads from Adrenalin, thanks.

No no, you've got it all wrong. Navi 48 has the encoders, Navi 44 will not. It's not a question of it being improved or not, they literally just won't have them, period.

I dont think that is true. In the advertisement/picture it says H.264 encoder av1 and HVEC H.265 encoder improvements. 6000 series cards have all 3 of them so why not? Even 5000 series cards have support for these except AV1 if I'm correct

Do you have a source for that? I'm not sure I follow the rationale, why would they remove it from N44, since it'll be plenty capable silicon? The only one that doesn't have the encoding block at all is Navi 24 (6500 XT), and even at its lowly segment, it was already a huge miss vs. the competition, Intel included

The uncompromising solutions are 4090 and 5090, and if someone buys something smaller, this is a person who is ready to lower the settings and let him not deceive himself or anyone else. Moreover, there are plenty of articles, including on this site, where all the options for game settings are compared and the conclusion is always the same: the minimum preset often differs from the others noticeably, and it is almost impossible to distinguish the average preset from the ultra settings, much less the high ones from the ultra. At the same time, the impact on the gameplay of ultra settings, unlike high settings, can be simply catastrophic.

3080 is a solid choice if you can live with the 10GB limitation. I got mine about an year ago from a friend for 450EUR, came with a waterblock but I run with air currently.

3080 is a solid choice if you can live with the 10GB limitation. I got mine about an year ago from a friend for 450EUR, came with a waterblock but I run with air currently.
3080 has one thing going for it and that's the great bandwidth. Even with 10GB, it can probably do something equal to a 12GB ada card.

Good point, with a little overclock and over 800GB/s is easily achievable.

Wouldn't put it past AMD to do this sort of thing.

There is some talk about RTX 5060 being with 12GB of RAM, maybe wait a bit to see how it fares.
Praying this is true.
