Hello guys, in your opinion, which is the best laptop for less than $1,000 US dollars? I was looking at the Acer Swift Go 14. It has good reviews, but apparently, it's kind of noisy under load (50 dB).

By the way, how can I know if it includes two memory sticks in dual channel or just one? All the specs I've seen only mention the capacity

The primary use is Excel and light gaming

THANKS!!

VR HMD I live in real reality and don't need a virtual one.
Software Windows 11 / 10 / 8
Benchmark Scores My PC can run Crysis. Do I really need more than that?
I cannot help you with the choice because I have zero idea what's up on the laptop market this decade but could you please be more specific so others help you more efficiently?

How battery life matters for you?
Do you need high refresh rate?
Do you need unorthodox display resolution?
How many USB or any other ports do you need?
Is 14" your only size of choice or we might go 15+ or <14?
What is "light gaming" in your book?
Any specific requirements regarding the keyboard?
What country are you located in?

As for memory my local Acer page have two options 16 or 32 GB. Both are possible as a single stick, and no information if they ship it with one or two sticks so....

Hello!
Battery life is really important because I'm going to work with it, so at the very least, I need 8 hours of battery life (mostly for Excel)
I don't need a high refresh rate.
I'm happy with 1080p at the moment.
At least 2 USB ports are necessary since I'm going to use a dedicated mouse.
I'm okay with a 14" laptop, but if you know a good one that's 15" or larger, that would be great.
I mostly play indie games like Dead Cells or Hades. GTA V is probably the most graphically intensive game I play.
I'm in Chile. Here’s a site that shows all the available laptops: Solotodo you can translate it
Thanks for your time!

I have a 7730U one (Lenovo), and it's surprisingly quiet (and fast) for work and internet. For the most part, you can't even hear it (while working in word/excel/browsing) it very rarely ramps up, and when it does, it's a soft woosh, nothing too loud.

That is not heavy use and therefore, should not put the laptop under heavy load.

To that, where did you see that 50dB is considered "noisy"? Got a link? PC Mag did a review of that laptop and did not mention noise as a problem.

However, do note that 50dB is NOT considered loud. In fact, it is considered relatively quiet. If you look here, it is the same loudness as a "quiet office" and below that of normal conversation or quiet refrigerator. Anything before 60dB is considered "quiet".

Since it is unlikely that laptop will be taxed with a heavy load except for only short periods at a time, it should be running at less than 50dB and therefore very quiet most of the time.

Have you ever seen "Asus Vivobook" series?
It's light, cheap, silent, yet the battery life is more than majority had expected.
