Hi, I'm looking for a recommendation on webcams that are great for close-up work. I run jewelry making workshops online and need a webcam that can take very close up video without blurring.
Any recommendations?
Thanks,
M

Does it have to be a webcam?
Many DSLR type cameras can record video and even stream over USB to a PC.
That way you can get something like a macro lens, that should help.

Hi,...thanks for the tip, great idea, but unfortunately i don't have a DSLR and I can only assume that's going to be A LOT more expensive than a webcam :)

Elgato Facecam
Thanks for the recommendation :)

Yes, sure, it'll cost more, but the quality will be 100x better. I thought this was for a business.
Maybe take a look at Dell's new webcam, it's 4K and has some pretty advanced zoom features.

The suggested Elgato camera won't be good for close ups, it has fixed focus and it's designed specially for streaming/face type applications.

Logitech Brio, might be 4 years old by now but it does in fact have both clearer video and more features than the dell camera, also, its cheaper! So its a triple win.

Either way if you want something for closeup work and streaming, look in to a microscope or the like, Tagarno made some good stuff back in the day, for the price at least. Don't know whats on the up today.

If you mean people like Louis, he uses a microscope with a camera attachment, but i mean, thats in the couple thousand dollar range. He did use a tagarno earlier on however, a cheap little chineseium USB camera microscope. Same as EEVblog used for his soldering. Currently on a Eakins I think? But thats still a 500 dollar camera microscope from aliexpress.

Edit: Seems like you can find a few offbrand models according to this thread: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/revie...camera)-microscope-for-rework-and-inspection/
All things considered, seems to be a decent job, as mentioned if you search on amazon or the like for "14mp microscope" or the like they will pop up around 200-300 dollars.
Something like that would probably work better than just a generic webcam you try to position around, they are however rather specific in what you do with them. Working area might be a bit small for some though. I know nothing about jewelry so I have no idea if that would work or not.
There are multiple threads on the eevblog forum about microscopes are inspection cameras that could give some ideas though, since I assume if it works well for soldering and join inspection, it should work pretty good for jewelry as well? I could be wrong though.
