Big trouble : suddenly my apps take minutes to load with win 11

Hello

I built a new computer. All was fine today morning. I have even succeded to find the last drivers I needed.
But I don't now why, suddenly, all my applications (except Microsoft one) take minutes to launch !

What Have I tried:

- Speed test of disks = ok
- Processes takes too much ressources = no
- Install again applications to see = it's not that

Really annoying: it's my work station. What can i do?

Usually a recent driver update or a program consuming cpu cycles cause those problems. Even a usb port when connected to a problematic device can be the source of it.

So I need to differenciate 2 kind of programs here:
FireFox, Chrome, Eagle need 2 minutes to launch.
Adobe app: really quick.

Strange...

EDIT: once launched all is pefect and snappy it's just the launch

Are you running an anti-virus, anti-malware, etc.? Try turning them off.
Look at task manager and see who is doing what... like, eating resources, eating CPU cycles, using up hard-disk/SSD resources.

No antivirus = same problem...
Nothing in Task manager... (cpu 1-2% memory 33%)...
Disk 2-3%


It's really annoying.

Ok I found somehting... I have made a flsuh of my dns and reset winsock (i saw a tutorial on internet)... seem to be ok now... So strange.
Somebody can explain to me what I just did (dns + winsock thingies) and what was the problem in fact... I would like to undrestand

win is starting up an OWN miniserver - resetting this task should erase the high usage

had the same prob. its documented by MS as well.

The last update this year is the December security patch. The cumulative update KB 5008215 increases the version number to Windows 11 22000.376. Since it is cumulative, the improvements from the optional update KB5007262 are also included.

There are quite a few changes and improvements here. Including the performance problem of hard disks (NVMe / SSD) under Windows 11. But back to today's security-related update.

i upload a txt document - to speed up the windows startup. execute it with cmd (admin) i will leave it in txt file to make sure u can see its no programmed virus..

which apps, for example, are you talking about? can you give a specific example? or is it generally the case that everything is too slow?

So, mostly third-party online apps.... I haven't had a chance to try Win11 myself, but I've heard of various DNS-related issues.
Try manually switching to Google(8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare(1.1.1.1) and see if it helps. Game launchers were always slow, so I wouldn't worry about that.
Another thing that might be a suspect, is a fresh install. Windows may be still building up the prefetch/superfetch database, and it may get better with time (unless it's another bug). One of the latest (Nov) updates also mentions few things about slow app startup fixes, so you might want to check that out.

oh boy.....

you have 6 boot partitions

i think your PC has a problem allocating disks, you have too many logical and primary partitions mixed

Clean up your prefetch folder and run CCleaner. Make sure you have swapfile and its set to the right size.

set back your drivers (ethernet) is an option as well. its another suspicion. but i do not think its this cus. edge does run fine. edge is on C: the other programs are on the other disks.
