Bing popup in IE8. (Windows7)

Does anyone know how to disable that @#$%^! Bing pop-up in IE? The one that pops up when you hover over 'trigger words'.

No one? Someone has to know. If I did it'd be one of the first things I'd disable.

Firefox.

I've been happy with IE6 for years. An "accidental upgrade" to IE8 has frustrated me so badly I have lot my hair! It has forced me to move to FireFox.

On reinstalls, I stick with IE6.

You can do everything that a TAB can do, by SHIFT clicking a link and getting a second instance, and using the taskbar as the TAB feature.

I find bing very intrusive, as does the once-in-a-while ignoring of defined homepage and jumping to MS sites and bing. I cant stand it when I misstype a URL and then bing pops up.

Well "ding" to bing. MS internet explorer is now history

It happens when you hover over in-text trigger words. I started another thread about it w1z. I found a link to spam them back.

never seen that before .. you mean just like when i write "xbox 360" and you mouseover it it will show something ?

It only happens on certain sites. When I find one I'll post a link and you can see if it happens.

I can't find any right off the bat (go figure) but it looks something like this.

Here is a test paragraph of how certain keywords are underlined that would trigger this popup that appears to be a new way for advertisers to annoy you.

But obviously it doesn't work on TPU. It's not used here. :rockout:

Here's a link to disable that specific one. Via cookie I'm sure. I disabled it and refreshed the audioholics site and IT WORKS! NO MORE POPUPS! :rockout:

tpu is using vibrantmedia on the front page too to make some $$. but you can turn it off as registered user in the forum cp.
